Guadalajara has a metropolitan area that includes many "cities", like Los Angeles, Mexico and many others.
The closest cities to Guadalajara would be Zapopan, Tlaquepaque and Tonal谩; those three surround Guadalajara city, but the metropolitan area includes El Salto and Tlajomulco.
If we are thinking that all those are one and not six cities, well, the next cities would be Chapala, Ixtlahuac谩n and Zapotlanejo.
But if what you mean is cities that actually look like cities, the next will be Tepatitl谩n, then Ciudad Guzm谩n and, no that close but the next, Lagos de Moreno.
If what you mean is State capitals, the closest could be either Morelia (Michoac谩n state) or Tepic (Nayarit state). Le贸n is not a capital state, but is bigger than Guanajuato city and closer to Guadalajara.
