I will be travelling in the interior of Mexico this summer. I hate to be without a cell phone?

1. Is there cell phone service in the colonial cities?
2. Can i buy disposal phone and service in USA for mexico?

1. Yes. Check with your carrier to see if your phone will work on the networks in Mexico. Most newer phones are GSM triband and should operate in foreign countries AS LONG as you set up the service first.

2. I don't believe you can buy a phone in the US specifically for Mexico, but you may be able to purchase one there, or purchase a SIM card that would work on your phone.

Finally, depending on just how remote you'll be going, you may not be able to receive any connections. In this case, you should consider getting a calling card...

Mexico has excellent cell coverage & most US cell phone providers will roam in Mexico but it will be be 50垄 to $1.50 p/min. If you need to talk a lot, you can talk unlimited for $15 a day with a Mexico cell phone rental from http://www.satellitephonestore... Report It

I think Verizon Wireless rents them out. Check them out.

Cell phones should work there without the cell phone service

Verizon does service Mexico, I don;t know about the other carriers. You will need to call them and and adjust your roaming area. But beware, it is expensive to use in Mexico. Best to buy a cheap phone card once you arrive.

When arriving to Mexico buy a Telcel phone anuwhere and 2 or 3 $500 pesos (about 50 dollars) prepaid cards, they would give you each $900 pesos which is enough for 2 weeks I think

Yes, there is cell phone service in the interior of Mexico. Although you don't mention exactly where you are traveling, be aware that when you are in certain parts of the country, you are just too far from cell phone towers to receive service. For instance, when traveling from Torreon, Coahuila to Guadalajara, there were many times where neither my husband's Blackberry nor my Mexican cell phone had any signal.

Verizon does have a plan that allows you to use a US cell phone here, but you will need to check to make sure it will cover the areas where you want to travel.

It is easiest and cheapest to purchase a phone here. I recently purchased an inexpensive but quite usable SAGEM phone through Telcel (they advertise this as the Amiga plan, and my phone cost $30 US). I then purchase minutes for the phone. If you are visiting friends in Mexico, at the end of your visit, you can just turn the phone over to them and they can use the remaining minutes.
