I am really confused about moving to Winnipeg. Can anyone tell me what would be the best Calgary or Winnipeg?

My husband lives in Winnipeg. He is doing his MSc in Computer Science in the University of Manitoba there. I am doing my MGIS in the University of Calgary. We have got married on August. and In September I moved to Calgary for studies. Now I wanna go back to Winnipeg. We both are confused. It would be a great help if anyone else can suggest us what would be the best.

This is a decision you and he need to make together . Both cities have their good points and bad. Since you both will have good career possiblities, again, both cities work well. I realize my answer isn't helping but seriously, this needs to be between you two. If you cannot decide, look at other things such as cost of a home, violent crime rates, schools (if you are planning children), where your families are. Best wishes.

Winnipeg is cheaper right now which is a plus there. However, Calgary has the mountains in our backyard which is a plus and it's usually much warmer in the winter.

That said, where can you get jobs? To me that would be the kicker.

I think the pay in CGY is much higher but so are the costs of living. I have been in CGY for 17 years after coming from Winnipeg.. I liked Winnipeg but love CGY.. We have many things here that WPG doesn't such as hockey team, mountains, vibrant economy, less taxes.
As well, its more exciting and a "younger" town.

My choice would be CGY.

Calgary is a GREAT city too get a new career started after finishing school. I lived in Winnipeg for a little while. I found it too be a nice place too visit, but PST and GST kinda hits the wallet hard, also the crime rate is crazy high. In my opinion I'd rather live in Calgary.
