What is living in Winnipeg like? |
What is living in Winnipeg like? Winnipeg has ample, free, live entertainment in the summer months. The people are the best! Food is #1 - great restaurants, great prices and lots of shopping. Let me say right off the top that I would not want to live there. And only because I spent many years on the prairies and now want something different. It's true that the winters in Winnipeg can be severe by most people's standards. Going down to -40 or below is not unusual. However, most people get used to it. You learn how to dress, how to look after your car, and you find things to do in the winter. Great city for cross-country skiing, for example. Winnipeg is great....Minus 40 temperatures happen...possibly 10 days a year, on the average. easy to adapt to it. As far as "Drag Racer"'s answer....in his question and in this answer, he seems to focus on Hookers and Bikers. Living in Winnipeg is pretty laid back. There is the excitement of concerts, hockey games, festivals etc if you want to attend. If you are more of a homebody, you can do that too. Homes aren't as expensive as some places, like Vancouver. Utilities and groceries etc are also pretty middle of the line. ive travelled there last summer to go camping and well i assume that there is fish !! lol I've lived here my whole life & love it. There is so much to do, not just in the city & surrounding it to. Practically every weekend during the summer has something going on. We have amazing restaurants & interesting neighbourhoods. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. It was the worst 6 months of my life. Cold, expensive, dirty and just not nice. When my husband got fired and we were able to move back to Calgary if was the best thing in the world. You would have to kill me before I would live there again. Winnipeg is one of the cheapest place in the world to live, very low taxes rate. cold in winter hot in summer to many mosquitoes not much to do but watch the grass grow to many bikers and hookers they are every where which means the crime rate is very high so you need to wear bullet proof shorts the homeless live in the downtown area so theres 10 bums every yard they are even in the lobby of the fancy hotels downtown other than that its not such a bad place |
