How many smokes can i take to New Zealand?

******ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO******
Travellers must be 17 years or older to be eligible for alcohol and tobacco allowances.

A traveller may import the following quantities of tobacco products and alcoholic beverages free of Customs charges, providing that:

(i) The goods accompany them through the Customs arrival process; and
(ii) The goods are not being carried on behalf of any other person or persons; and
(iii) The goods are not intended for sale or exchange.

Cigarettes, Cigars, Tobacco
* 200 cigarettes, or
* 250 grams of tobacco, or
* 50 cigars, or
* a mixture of all three weighing not more than 250 grams.

Alcoholic Beverages:
* 4.5 litres of wine or 4.5 litres of beer
* three bottles (or other containers) each containing not more than 1125ml of spirits, liqueur, or other spirituous beverages.

Quantities imported in excess of the allowances, or that are housed in containers greater than the maximum stipulated bottle size, are liable for Customs charges.

Do you mean packs of cigarettes?

There isn't much of a limit on tobacco with the airlines. You should look up your specific air carrier's website and see what it says. Also look for a phone # to call and ask. Furthermore, I don't know what New Zealand's customs rules are. You may run into an issue once you arrive in N.Z.

As far as US federal security, there is not a limit, as long as it is not a ridiculous amount. Say, for instance, I would not recommend bringing over 50 cartons.

Your biggest issue is matches/lighters. You can only bring lighters in carry on. No matches or lighters in checked baggage.

You can take one carton of cigarettes. I usually buy mine from the duty free shop when I land in Australia as you can get a carton of 250 which is good.I've just been to NZ and my limit was one carton.

Take one carton of cigarettes with you. Buy more when you get there.
