I live out there ...There are no places that tourists are likely to go that are high crime areas. You will be fine on metro. The reputation DC has as a high-crime city mostly dates to the late 80s, and is no long... Try looking at this site: www.washingtonpost.com ... Agree. Metro is convenient and cheaper. Your hotel is near Metro's Ballston station on the Orange Line, and that State Department building is only a couple blocks from the Federal Center SW st... My guess is that you'll be fine. The concerts I've been to only run about 1 1/2 to 2 hours with very few going into 3 hours. I'd say just watch the time and if for some reason the ... (Well, YEAH... LOTS of people. heh.) Not me though... and NOW I think I'll wait 'til the shrub is gone... and traveling returns to some semblance of normalcy... I prefer NOT to be treat...
