Good Restuarants in Washington DC?

I'm going to Washington DC this weekend with my boyfriend. We'll be staying near Union station and I would like some suggestions for restuarants near by ( within walking distance). Also, I hate seafood so no seafood places please!

You should also check out Charlie Palmer Steak House at 101 Constitution Avenue NW (just down Louisiana Avenue from Union Station) and B. Smith's (located at the east end of Union Station) -- which features Cajun, Creole and Southern cuisine, so you might need to circumvent Jambalaya on the menu to avoid seafood.

Just past Union Station on Capitol Hill, check out Cafe Berlin (German), La Loma (Tex-Mex), White Tiger (Indian) and Two Quail (romantic fine dining) -- all located along Massachusetts Avenue NE.

ADDENDUM: Julie -- Sorry about Bistro Bis; I've never had the pleasure of eating there, eventhough I've had friends who stayed at the Hotel George! Will add it to our growing "to try" list.

Right across the street from Union Station, in the old General Post Office Building, is Capitol City Brewing, a quite good but not fancy restaurant that caters to young singles and couples. They brew their own micro-beers and serve thick burgers and large salads.

You should also wander Union Station itself, which has a number of restaurants, including a large food court.

If you want more upscale dining that's not too far from your hotel, wander 7th Street, NW, which has numerous restaurants on the stretch from Pennsylvania Avenue up to and past the Verizon Center, including Jaleo, Clyde's (a Washington favorite), and the District Chop House.

Bistro Bis, in the hotel George, is only a couple of Blocks from Union Station, and is very nice and very fancy. It's a tad expensive.

If you head east from Union Station you can find Two Quail and Cafe Berlin, both of which are nice white tablecloth restaurants. Cafe Berlin is my favorite in that area, but I am a fan of Germany, so YMMV. Two Quail is American Southern Cooking.

Those are the nearby "fine dining" restaurants.

For more casual fare, my favorites are the Capitol City Brewing Company, a brewpub with better than brewpub fare, including some good vegetarian selections, and the Dubliner, an Irish pub restaurant. There are serveral decent places to eat in Union Station - the Capitol Grille, the Center Grille, America, and Pizzaria Unos, as well as a really very good food court.

About eight blocks west of this area, though is Chinatown, and the Penn quarter with more good restaurants than you can imagine - if you are walkers, or willing to take metro two stops out, this would be a great option.

Addendum: I can't believe both of the other posters missed Bistro Bis! It is one of my favorites!
