What are the good museums in DC to go to ?? |
hi, What are the good museums in Dc to go to , any new one s there ? Thanks!! The Spy museum : Smithsonian, They are all incredible! I haven't been to DC since 2005 so don't know what's new but I've always loved the Air & Space Museum. They are all great, really. You need a full day minimum to really take advantage of it all, but they are mostly all centered around the same area in the "mall". Lucky you! I love DC! It really depends on what you want to see. There are lots of options. As mentioned above, the Spy Museum is a really cool one and it's definatley a welcome change from all of the Smithsonian history and art museums. However- all of the Smithsonians are free. It's hard to beat that, when you can just walk in and kill days at a time. Of the Smithsonians, I really enjoy the Museum of Natural History (the mounted animals in the Hall of Mammals are really cool!), the Hirshorn (modern art) and the Freer / Sackler Galleries (Asian / Indian art). If you have the time and a rental car, you might want to check out the Udvar Hazy museum. It's out near Dulles Airport (about 45 minutes away by car) but has an amazing Air and Space collection. You can see the Concorde, the Space Shuttle, the SR-71 Blackbird, the Enola Gay... All sorts of cool stuff. For art, I like the Hirschhorn and the National Museum of Women in the Arts. The Museum of Natural History has that great gem and mineral section. The Holocaust Museum is always a moving experience. I haven't been, but the Native American museum looks cool and has gotten good reviews. |
