I am traveling from NJ to Washington DC - 1625 Eye Street NW - what is the best way? metro?

Actually - am i better off driving straight into DC? or getting off somewhere & taking a park & ride metro? My appointment is at 3pm on a Tuesday; & i'll probably leave around 4:30pm

Although I'm a fan of Metro, in your circumstance I would probably opt for driving all the way, and parking my car in one of the downtown garages. Ask the folks at the location you're visiting where they park if/when they drive to the office.

At the time you're arriving, traffic shouldn't be all that bad. When you depart, you'll be in rush hour, but given time you'll make it home without much fuss.

Just leave plenty of time. Plan to arrive early and walk around the area, stopping for a cup of coffee. This will also serve as a cushion of time in case you have trouble with the drive.

Driving in DC can be frustrating, sudden one way streets, criss crossing roads, traffic..... If you are near an AMTRAK station, take that! It will take you to Union Station where you can hop on the Metro system and get anywhere you want to go.

How close are you to AMTRAK in NJ? I would take Amtrak to Union Station and then just hop on the Metro. At that hour of the day your bound to hit traffic somewhere. Plus, parking can also be an issue.
