Does any one knows how many hours it takes to drive from Was DC to Boston?? and what is the best way to drive?

Depending on how you drive and traffic it can take 8 to 10 hours.

I think the best way is to take 95 north to New York (there really isn't a great way around it - you can take other roads around part of it, but it adds time and does not really help the traffic a lot) then to take the Cross Bronx Expressway, and Hutchinson River Parkway through the city, and the Merritt Parkway across Connecticut. Then take 15 N to Hartford (or 91) to 84 to 90 (the Mass Turnpike). There are tolls along this route, but it's really the best way.

Generally it takes me eight hours. One time, on a really good day it took me six. Another time it took me twelve.

There's two ways you can do this neither one of which will get you stuck on The Cross Bronx or the Hutch
1) pop this into your favorite computer mapping service
DCA>Hagerstown MD>Scranton PA >BOS
Disadvantage ? just one It's 110 miles further
Advantages
No tolls
No cities
No traffic-unless you hit Hartford at the wrong time
2) Do this backwards :plan on reaching exit 10 on the new jersey turnpike between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM If you leave DC by 6:00AM you will miss all the commuter traffic between the various East Coast cities
Pop this in DCA>Perth Amboy NJ
When you get off the NJTPK at exit 10 the Garden State Parkway will be right there take that North to the end at I-87 /NY State Thruway
I-87 south cross the tappan zee bridge and follow signs for I-287 White Plains/Port Chester
Then at white plains exit to I-684 /Brewster
Then to I-84 East /Hartford
Stay on it it feeds into I-90 E The Mass Pike and on into Boston
allow 9-10 hours bc the NJTPK is one crappy road in any kind of precip
Get gas at the last service area on the NJTPK
Safe Trip

It is an even 400 miles as the crow flies--it CANNOT be done in six hours. Eight to ten is correct. Mr. Danger's #2 is best way. You could do Julie's route going over the GW bridge only late at night--but I bet you get lost doing it the first time. And you won't save much time. I-95thruBaltimore to Delaware Mem. Bridge >NJTPK Exit 10>GSP>I-287 over Tappan Zee>I-684 thru Brewster>I-84thruHartford>I-90MassPike. Make sure you have an EZ-Pass if possible. Leave DC at 10 AM or after 8pm (if possible).

The best post is TheDurk's suggestion for the E-Z Pass ... it will save you alot of time, as you won't have to stop at all the toll booths along the way, where there are often long lines, esp. in Delaware.

Costs approximately $ 30.00, you can apply on-line-- here's the link:
