Is Eckington a safe part of Washington DC? |
My fiance and I are considering moving here from northern Virginia. We are 25 yrs old, white, and young professionals. Is this a decent place to live? Agree with the previous poster, Eckington is a neighborhood in transition. The new New York Avenue/Florida Avenue/Gallaudet University Metro station and surrounding development (ATF headquarters, Courtyard Marriot hotel, XM Radio, etc.) means housing is only going to get more pricey throughout the area. not sure. most places to live in DC are too expensive for the middle class. almost have to be millionaire to live there. A lot of dangerous neighborhoods in DC. I would stay where you are in Virginia or move outside of DC. You could live in Howard County, MD...not bad commute to DC. 30 min. just ideas... No, it's in between Florida Ave and Rhode Island. I wouldn't say it's the safest area. it is in transition right now it is still the' hood and you are not safe at night , but the more folks like you that move in the more thugs will leave, you make good victims for them but they don't want you for neighbors.so move on in. |
