What is the time difference between California and Washington? If you mean Washington D.C then the time difference is 3 hours. Three hours if Washington DC. None if Washington D.C. is in the Eastern Time Zone, California and Washington are in the Pacific Time Zone. The Central and Mountain Zones fall in between, with each change costing an hour. So 3 hours or zero, depending on your destination. Three hours all year regardless of winter or summer time DC is three hours later than the west coast ...very convenient if you are flying WEST..
