What are the must do's in Venice Italy??

What are the must do's in Venice Italy??

As a Venitisn, I have to say it is not easy to answer.

We often avoid the crowded places like san Marco's Square could be. But if you come to Venice, once in a lifetime, you must go there. We tend to priviledge more the old things then the modern: we could suggest all the Basilicas (every sestriere [one of the 6 parts of the city] has a main church that is the Basilica), the Doge's Palace, Accademia Galleries, C脿 Rezzonico. If you like more contemporary things, go to the Guggenheim Collection, to Palazzo Grassi or the Biennale.

Then, if you have spare time, loose your way in the maze.

A gondola ride can be fun if you find the good gondolier who shows the right views.

Have a look at the city from the San Giorgio bell tower and go to the islands (Murano, Burano and Torcello) on a sunny day

Enjoy Venice, and respect it, please

Do understand that the canals also serve as the sewer....

ride in a gondola.

EAT great food.
go to museums.

Gondola ride, of course.
Walking tour. We hired a local to walk us around. It was great. St. Mark's square, of course. Eat outside at one of the many restaurants off the square.

A visit to the Doge's Palace which is located right next to the Duomo, a tour of the islands and a walk through the narrow streets, away from the busy tourist areas.

Visit:
+Doges Palace
+The Jewish Ghetto
+C脿 Pesaro
+the Accademia
+ The Grand Canal by vaporetto
+Try to get lost - make sue you have a camera
Must eat:
+Grilled eel with polenta
+Liver & onions (a traditional venetian dish!)
+Pizza at the Taverna San Trovaso
+Black pasta (made with cuttle fish ink)
+Sarde in saor: pickled sardines
Must drink:
+Prosecco
+Spritz (Campari, white wine & a splash of bubbly water)

1) get lost
2) fish and vegetable open air market by Rialto Bridge
3) Melange (hot chocolate) at Quadri's in San Marco square.

Also take a boat ride to Murano Island to visit 'the' official Murano glass factory where you can watch the guys sweating in 99deg heat sculpting moulten glass in the ovens. Then get on the boat again for Burano Island to visit 'the' place that's known for the lace production (dresses, tablecloths, etc etc & more etc).

and don't forget to go to Herry's Bar!!!!it's close to st. mark square. it is the first Cipriani restaurant before he went to New York, very famous, very good eating! You shold order Belini cocktail, that was invented by Cirpiani in Herry's bar.
