Dubaians, nowadays is there someone who is living in traditional houses in the UAE?

I have to carry out some research and I need the opinion of someone who's resident there.
I know that there are loads of futuristic skyscrapers and modern buildings but where do poor people live (if there are poor people!)?
who is living in traditional houses in the UAE especially in Bastakia and Shindagha? Are they all museums such as al-fahidi fort?
Thanks for your help.

I am a resident and a citizen. There are poor Emiratis, and it kills me to see that. You might find a lot of poor Emiratis more in the northern Emirates. Yes, there are still many living in traditional houses -we have one right next door- our neighbor. In Bastakia and Shindagha? No there are real people living there. They are definitely not all museums!

Hope I helped, interesting story.
FYI, I did an advanced academic research on "Unexposed Tourist Sites" in the UAE. It might interest you :)

Little such habitat inside the city, but a lot of people living in traditional houses on the outskirts of some emirates. Check out villages, towns.

yes unfortunately there are people living in old traditional houses .. local people living in old houses .. either in Dubai or any other emirate in the UAE ..

and where .. i dont know the names but mainly in northern emirates .. Abu Dhabi and Dubai but mostly to be maintained or totally changed .. the northern emirates have more of them .. and older not maintained ones ..

the sad thing is that these people are already poor or not able to pay for house reparation ..

the places you mentioned might be taken by poor expats and labor .. they share it and dont stay there much .. so its like 20 of them are living in one small room .. these are the dirty old houses .. and if they're not happy with how they live then it would be great if they return to their country ..

the old but clean homes are lived by UAE nationals .. i hope a solution will come up and solve up Emirati's housing system ..

ask the members of http://www.uaeforums.org there are lot of them
