I saw a most remarkable answer of Alana in another section and tried to give an objective answer as well:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
I would like to know your thoughts about this.
Is there any justification for terrorism?
I kindly ask you not to attack Alana on a personal level when you answer this. An objective and criticizing opinion against hers is of course appreciated. There is no justification because most of the victims if you sum it all up are all "non-combatants" under International Law. Non-combatants mean non-military personnel or civilians.
The killing of combatants in armed conflicts is justified because soldiers are militarily dangerous to an adversary.. Civilian workers in government military installations, Anti-government factions/Rebel groups are lawful targets for the same reason. Operations directed against these aim for the disablement to make them inoperable for the former and so that they can no longer fight against an adversary for the latter because civilians that engage in hostilities automatically lose their "civilian immunity".
In contrast, the civilian is not militarily harmful and the killing of non-combatants for moral, political, or legal wrongdoings is nothing but vigilante justice. This can be seen in the bombings of Israel and the assasination of Turkish diplomats et al. Terrorism by way of retributive killings draw no moral distinction no matter which way you cut it illicits no justification because it is unlawful.
At present, one facet in terrorism places no distinction between military and non-military targets because for some terrorists, some civilians are not 鈥渋nnocent鈥?and deserve to be killed for doing nothing to help alleviate their cause. Therefore legitimizing the populace as legitimate targets of violence.
Alarming is the fact that indoctrination fosters this maligned concept and effectively delineates the distinction making everyone "the enemy". This can be seen in Palestinian children's shows or sayings like "Never forget". This gives a wrong perception to the youths caught in conflicts. Terrorists coming up to bat armed with these norms are not expected to view things objectively hence the cycle of terrorism continues. Though the world may scorn them, these souls see themselves fighting under the auspices of misguided patriotism. The matter lies on the description i think.
In my opinion, a terrorist attacks civilians to form chaos. In no situation it is acceptable to harm civilians. That's a humanity crime even if you are right on your aim.
Therefore people who support terrorists, physically or mentally are partners in crime with them and that makes them humanity criminals as well. Because distortion of truth is the essence of terrorism.
They show a Marxist organization as the defender of national freedom. Marxism? Supporting etnic nationalism? Come on!
I think it was her again, who said some time ago that ASALA emerged to make Turks accept their claims about the 1915 events. Does this mean that when a nation has certain claims that they think people should accept, they have to found a terrorist organization and start killing? Isn't that nice?
The most overlooked portion of the society worldwide is the children. In many poor (and rich) countries they live in pitiful conditions, can't get a decent education, can't even have enough nutrition. So, to defend their rights, should children start killing adults?
Alana and co are really remarkable. They don't hear any other voices but theirs. It's OK though. They make everybody see that their "truth" amounts to trolling. The Turks are doing it all the time but they fail to realize that they are provoking and insulting.

Notice the paragraph of a fan of peace.
"In 1955 Greek Cypriots (GC) formed a terrorist organization called Eoka, in order to force the British out, get rid of Turkish Cypriots (TC) and unite the island with Greece (Enosis). The British played the game well by spreading hatred and enmity between GCs and TCs. TCs also formed their own underground organization to defend themselves against Eoka attacks."
In just one paragraph there are lies and half the truth.
1.EOKA was not a terrorist organization. EOKA is not to blame for every crime by the Greek Cypriots.
2.EOKA didn鈥檛 want to "get rid of the TC" even if they wanted, they couldn't. I was a secret organization moving in the shadows, how could they get rid of the 18% of the population?
3.The target was freedom. To get rid of the colonists and be free to unite with Greece, which at that point made more sense than independence.
4.Greek Cypriots volunteer to fight against the nazis because the British promised them freedom. After the WWII, the British forgot their promises. That gave birth to EOKA. Many of the members of EOKA were fighting against the nazis 10 years before EOKA.
5.When the Greeks were fighting for freedom the Turks were fighting for the British to maintain a collony and after that to divide Cyprus.

Back to your question, many Turks do support terrorist organizations such as the TMT
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkish_Res...
These were the people who bombed the Turkish Cypriot Press Agency in order to create bi communal hatred. These were the people behind many atrocities鈥?(the Greek side had their part too with EOKA B but that organization was never widely supported by the Greek Cypriot people).
As for anlarm, I suggest to him to thank EOKA, next time he takes free hospital treatment in the hospitals of the free part of Cyprus, or the next time he will use the passport of the Republic of Cyprus.
It was because of EOKA that Cyprus became a free republic in the 1960. Not because of the Turkish Cypriots epicuricals or the terrists of TMT.
As for the treaty of 1960, it wasn鈥檛 an agreement like he wants to present it. It was a blackmail to the Greek Cypriots that was forced to them by Britain, Turkey and even Karamanlis of Greece. If Makarios wasn鈥檛 signing that agreement Cyprus was going to be divided.
The changes of the constitution in 1963 were done with the agreement of Great Britain and they were done for the sake of justice. The TC were enclave by their own leadership, not because of the fear of the Greeks. My thoughts:
Any worker, labor, or union
party is most always formed
because of a injustice perpetrated
on a certain minority group.
I made a generalized statement
regarding their creation, without
going into detail due to the nature
of the question not asking for it.
I also think many of these groups
like the ASALA start off with good
intentions. Which I have said many times
in the past, but I have also stated when
these same groups resort to violent acts
to achieve their means it then changes
everything they stand for. I do not condone
the actions of the PKK, so for those who
insist on seeing something in my answers
that is simply not there I will excuse your
moronic attempts and consider it just
another means in which to provoke me.
ADD:( dejvu, answer this question
please, is it just your feelings about
Armenians in general that cause you
to draw such negative conclusions
about Armenia? Do me a favor
site a source that backs up your
accusation. I am not going to debate
an issue that you have based on your
personal feeling of hate towards us.
I know it would be fruitless to ask
someone like you their opinion
about the gray wolves or how it would
benefit me to assume all of turkey
supports terrorism because of
this one particular group. That question was very childish and doesn't meet the reality.
1. ASALA was resolved almost 20 years ago.
2. PKK is not an Armenian organization
3. How can one claim Christians support these two organizations (which the first one doesn't even exist anymore) when both were/are internationally condemned!!!
So it's clear that the question is just a provoking one. And the guy tries to use the sophisticated issue as something against all Christians.
Or maybe he doesn't have fewest information on PKK and the former-ASALA groups.
But about your question:
I didn't find any "justification" in Alana's answer for terrorism.
It's a fact that once Kurds were treated unfairly in Turkey and they didn't have the rights which have today.
But does mentioning it mean "justification" of PKK ???
No, I don't think so.
EDIT:
I really don't want to offend anyone but I get mad and run out of patience when the attacks on Armenians continues on PKK issue. I exactly mean DejaVu who says Armenia helps PKK. That's completely nonsense.
There is no link between Armenians and PKK that's just the hateful imaginary of Turkey who only seeks opportunities to attack Armenians.
With so much effort Turkish propaganda machine does to develop hate and enmity we should never eye to a peace between Armenian and Turkish people. If you are right, then you don't need violence to defeat someone. Take Gandhi for instance. That is the cheapest trick in the book. Since from the beginning of time, there have always been people who tried to justify, dignify, vivify, glorify the use of violence (i.e terrorism) in order to achieve a bullshit ideal that they very much enjoy taking advantage of so as to benefit their own ends. What did totalitarian states of 20th century preach? Give up individual liberty for an ideal society. It doesn't matter sending millions of "enemies of people", then the supposed (Jews) enemies and at last sending people randomly selected to concentration camps if you are after an ideal that is more important than human life. These were for an equal society and nowadays terrorism is for "human rights". All of the bloodsheds in history always have a justification. A mad man who butchered his family has a justification too. But none of the people in the families of those innocents who died in the dastardly attacks of pkk and asala would be interested in those so called justifications. Besides, these two terrorist organizations, latter not being active anymore, do not even have any reason whatsoever to hide behind other than being hateful, cowardly, despicable and treacherous.
My words go for all of the terrorists not just for the pkk and the Armenians. I want to add some info for those who dont know, after all has been said by Alana.
Organization Supporter Active?
ASALA Armenia NO
PKK Kurds YES
Ergenekon Turkey YES
Grey Wolves Turkey YES I don't want to attack anyone, i will just tell you what i think.
There is NO justification for killing babies and innocent people. |
