What can i buy at a tunisian grocery store?

hi, can anyone tell me what i can expect from a grocery store in tunisia. meats and what not? as well as prices on goods, clothing, foods, shoes, etc.?

There are a few types of stores here: small hanouts which sell you basic goods (milk, bread, cereal, shampoo, cigarettes and such). They each differ in what they sell due to the area they are in, how much money the owner has, and supply and demand. Prices here too depend n what you buy, but for example everywhere you go a loaf of french bread cost .240

Then you have the bigger chain stores such as Monorpix and Magasin General. They sell clothes, food, and some electronics. Everything is a fixed price, like in America and the price depends on what you buy. For meat it will depend on how big the portion and the type you buy.

Promogro sells a lot of stuff, toys, food, housewears, and such. Mainly people go here to buy things in bulk.

Carrfour is in Tunis and they sell EVERYThing! Things for gardens, pets, electronics, housewears, clothes, food, etc.

Every town has it's boutiques where clothes and shoes are sold and while they are not cheap, the quality of clothes are good and last long.

You can also go to a Frip (second-hand shop) to buy clothes and shoes. Most things cost between 1.500-15TDN depending on what you buy, and there are sometimes new things mixed in with the second hand stuff

There are two Souks. One sells house wear, clothes and electronics. You can fins most things cheaper here than at stores, but be careful! If the vendor thinks you are a tourist or not from Tunisia, he will raise the price on you and you could end up paying double what the thing is worth. You also have to carefully inspect the quality of the thing you are planning to buy to make sure it is good. You get good stuff mixed in with bad.

The other Souk sells vegetables and some household items, and it is usually cheaper than buying from other sources. This is where people buy the majority of their vegetables and fruits and spices.

There is also the market, which people can buy fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, and such. That is open all day.

There are also small vendors that sell fruits and vegetables all throughout each city.

I cannot give you exact prices because everything depends on where you buy from, what you buy, and what quantity.

If I can be of more assistance, please feel free to contact me.

I dunno. Check and see what is in your fridge first. Got anything yummy in there.....:)
