Summer clothes in Tunisia? |
Is there a good selection of clothes to buy in tunisia and is it reasonably priced Usually whatever you buy in the souk is of questionable quality, especially shoes. Whenever I buy shoes there they fall apart in a month or two. Some of the sandals are really pretty with lots of beads and details, but I usually wouldn't reccomend buying them. I dont know much about shoes and clothes in Tunisia but I do know that Leather handbags are very cheap, make sure you haggle with them too because they will come down in price, they need the money more than you need the goods. lots of leather items including moccasons! Cheap leather and very cheap knock off sports wear didnt see many clothes therebut what we did see were cheap copies of sports wear v.cheap but not very good .but there is some excellent bags which were very cheap and i did buy a few but haggle haggle haggle for everything You can find nice practical t-shirts and other cotton made clothes. Traditional shoes "babouches" are nice and original. It depends on where you plan on buying them. I found many good clothes shops there, inside the traditional markets. I can't remember the word for them, maybe 'souk' was it? The sizes tend to be quite small and the clothes are not of the same quality you would find in Britain or France for example. I didn't see many shoes for sale there, but I did notice that many of the locals wore what Brits would call slippers or house shoes in the street! I couldn't disagree more strongly with takethepain. The people there are fine, but you have to fain disinterest when walking near any tourist shops or you will be hounded. French helps a great deal also since no one speaks English there. I would say no on all accounts. I've lived here for 4years and always go back to the u.k to do my clothes and shoe shopping for myself and my 3 kids. At least in the U.k you can return it and have "consumer rights" if it falls to pieces after on wash. Cheap holiday souvenir t-Shirt's are the same world over. As for shoes you get what you pay for, they are on a par with the U.K. If you want a cute pair of traditional shoes with sparkly bits on fine but otherwise I wouldn't bother. every thing there in tunisia are fake because it came on watchdog. esspecially the sports wear so be careful. |
