I am new to this have asked a ? but worded it wrong......I am driving to tunisia with my personal effects.....

I will be relocating from the uk.I have a house with the larer items in situ but I want to take some small personal items I am driving to marseille takin ferry across to tunis then driving down to Monastir,the vehicle will go on my passport as it will be leaving in three months time but the goods will remain until I leave.I have had conflicting advice some from the consulate! I have been assured as the items I am taking are for personal use are not new and will not be sold then no import taxes are due.unless of course you know better.....thanks for help I go Tuesday and I am pullin my hair out cos I cant get a straight answer....I just hope they got the car info right.....lol.
there is no container a tv,a mocrowave,a juicer,a kenwood chef,a
printer/scanner/fax,an assortment of bakery items tins moulds etc, I intend to start a business but cant without the goods I am bringing all of which will fit into my car....can you help b4 I go mad.......I am sorry for going on so,thanks

You will have to pay import taxes. And they can be steep depending on what you are bringing and the value of it.

Tunisia's import duties range from 10 percent to 287 percent. Certain luxury, durable goods (such as automobiles), or consumer items are also assessed a consumption tax that can be as high as 500 percent. Tunisia calculates its Value Added Tax (VAT) on the base price of the goods plus any import duties,
surcharges, and consumption taxes. The Ministry of Finance (which oversees the Customs Service) is responsible for determining the duties and taxes of specific imports.

I moved here a little over 5 years ago. I highly suggest you sell your stuff and start fresh here. The price to ship your things, plus the import taxes will make it a lot more costly than if you just bought new stuff. Tunisia has some really nice and good quality items here and they are reasonably priced. For example, to completly redo my kitchen (install cabinets, buy a microwave, oven, stove, refridgerator - the works) we paid between 3,000-4,000TND - that's less than 3,000USD. That's about 80% cheaper than what it would cost to get the same quality in America.

You dont have anything to worry about.
I could be illegal if you were to get across the border, park up and start selling the items in your car.

But just driving across the border with a car full of stuff isnt illegal. I have moved house to foreign countries a few times and for the ones that were driving distance I would always fill my car up with my stuff.

If you have a house there then they cannot dispute the fact that it is for personal use.

Just go for it, sometimes border control like to make a fuss but you are not breaking the law and they cant take your things.
