Do (Yasmine hammemet, tunisia) sell buckets and spades? |
Do (Yasmine hammemet, tunisia) sell buckets and spades? They are widely sold at the bigger stores such as Magasiin General and Monoprix. Some of the small touristy shops will also carry them, and you can find it sold along the beaches in certain areas, but they're more expensive thse ways. Best best is to go to one of the first two stores so you know you're not getting ripped off, or bring your own. If you hang around the beach long enough, an old guy will come up to you and give you a bucket and spade and tell you it is a gift. then when you say thanks and bid him goodbye he will tell you that you must now give him money for it. Whatever you do, do not go into the medina in hammamet unless you want to be molested, hassled, sworn at or told that you must give them money because you earn more money than them, and if they offer you coffee in the rug shop in the middle decline it because they will then ask you for money for that too even though they just told you it was a gift. my advice is to stay in the hotel, don't go anywhere near the town (especially if you are blonde and attractive) unless you want to experience the uglier side of tunisian culture. Just keep your wits about you in Tunisia because most people you are likely to meet in your travels will try to extract money from you in one way or another, unfortunately this sort of upmarket-begging is the way the tourist industry works there. that having been said, I hope you have a lovely holiday. I am Tunisian and I hate to admit it but Frax is right. Accept nothing for free. If they offer it for ya, ask "how much?" yes of course There is a toy shop on the corner near the marina called toys world or something like that and they have buckets and spades in there. Its attached to the blue ice place (where there is an ice rink), across the road to the left of the chich khan hotel. look i have been to tunisia 6 times and they sell everything from lilos to buckets and spades so don't worry you will get one oh bye the way have fun!!! |
