Why is there a statue of Abraham Lincoln in Tijuana, Mexico? |
I recently went on a trip to Mexico. Our group thought it was strange that one of the first things we saw upon arriving in the country was a statue of Abraham Lincoln. Does anyone know why it's there? not terribly strange at all and here's why: Mexico's president Benito Ju谩rez during the early 1860s, exchanged friendly letters with Lincoln and Mexico remembers Lincoln's opposition to the Mexican-American War. Because he freed the Mexicans from the tomato farms and vacationed in Tijuana the summer before he was assassinated. Outside the United States i was wondering why to? i seen it and thought the same thing! |
