if you are taking to take the freeway, you must take the 405 north, then get to the 5 freeway south to go to san diego, it is basically a straight shot from there, park at the border because tj traffic sucks, it is not as bad as the philippines (manila), so is better to take a taxie once you cross the border, and then go to where you need to go. but if you do not plan on going by your on rental, or personal car, then I would recommend you take the bus, if you dont mind the mta bus then call 1(800)COMMUTE, or just go to the nearest greyhound bus station, so that you dont have to worry about driving that long asss drive well not really that long only 2 to 3 hours tops, depending on traffic, the traffic can get pretty hecktic sometimes.
