Anyone know if I can carry a knife in Thailand? If yes what are the restrictions?

I'm just looking for carrying a utility knife. Not for self defense...

I've traveled a lot and utility knives have come in handy on more than one occasion.

So most likely it would be folding or fixed blade but not long.

Why would you want to carry a knife on your person?

Do you mean can you bring a Swiss Knife in your CHECKED IN bag - yes you can!

I bring a small tool kit with me that has a Swiss Knife and some other cutting stuff in it.

I DO NOT CARRY IT ON THE PLANE in my carry on bag!

After I get off the plane and get my luggage I do leave the toolkit in my bag until I get to my hotel and that is where it stays until I head for home again. Carrying a knife in your bag until you reach your hotel should be okay.

I know some divers that carry their own knives with them BUT NOT INTO THE PLANE with their carry on bags!

Carrying a knife on your person in Thailand can only lead to big problems, especially if drinking is involved!

If you are referring to bringing in a knife, you can but declare it to the custom. If you are referring to carry a knife around in the city, well nobody is gonna stop you but i don't understand why do you want to carry a knife ?

What kind of knife?? folding.. butterfly..pocket..machette.. yeah You can carry a knife around if you get it threrw the airport....why???make your question clearer please
