Fake goods from thailand?

im going to thailand this year and would like to know if i fill my suitcase with fake goods clothes shoes etc that i buy there will customs confiscate them from me on my way back to UK?
is there a limit on how much u can bring back?
do u have to pay instead of having them confiscated?

i was gonna go with an almost empty suitcase and buy close shoes and accessories there.....what if i remove the tags how will they know i didnt already bring them to wear from england?

If you fill the suitcase up with tons of stuff that is all the same like ALL shoes or ALL shirts, that won't work. They are not going to think anything if you buy things that all would belong in a suitcase anyways. If you have 10 shirts and pairs of pants, and 2 or 3 pairs of shoes and a hat or 2, that is nothing out of the normal obviously. And I dont know why people are trying to say "they will prosecute you" and trying to scare you like that and talking about how buying fake goods does all these evil things to the companies who invented the real versions. Those companies probably got started by having sweatshops in countries like the one you are trying to bring fake things out of. So I wouldn't cry for them, they are not exactly innocent anyways. There are good companies out there who shouldn't be copied or bootlegged, but if they are so popular that people are going to make fake versions of their stuff, they are definately bad and have done something really bad along the line to become as giant as they did. None of the giant companies on earth are innocent. So I don't think anybody should try to stick up for them and say "dont buy fake things". People buying copycat items are only hurting giant corporations because nobody is making fake replicas of Joe Schmoes little mom and pop business down the street. Its the big companies that are copied and duplicated and not a single one of them is innocent so they all deserve it anyways and poor guy in Thailand is making some money to eat. Good for you!

They might confiscate it but then they might not. I was caught once with something like 300 dvds and they looked at them and said, these may look legit but they are illegal and you should not make the mistake of buying them again. The cloths and shoes and stuff people do not care about because they are too hard to tell apart and half the time the goods are legit just stolen from the sweat shops. There might be a fine if you have more than 10k worth of goods.

Fake goods are illegal: you basically steal from the true producers.

Customs WILL confiscate ALL your fake goods, AND you will be fined. If you only have one fake good, they may confiscate it without a fine. Try anymore, and you will be fined. Try a suitcase full of fake goods, and you'll be arrested and prosecuted.

And if you get caught selling fake goods, you will also be arrested and prosecuted.

Fake goods also finance criminality, drugs and prostitution. And anybody who knows anything will be able to tell it is fake. Really not worth it... at all...

EDIT: re. the above comment, the EU (incl. UK) is cracking down on fake goods. Producers are lobbying governments. They regularly check flights originating from Asia. Have been checked several times myself. And they can tell fakes from legits: each real good contains "secret" trademark markings; customs officers have a booklet with all the markings. And I have seen people stopped with only one fake belt.

it is illegal to buy fake goods. and there is no limit coz it is illegal!!
but the customs would close one eye if you buy them in small quantity for personal use (e.g 6 t-shirts or shirts, 2 pairs of shoes, 2 watches and 2 handbags).
how much do you intend to get coz the airlines will only allow max of 25kg.

I f you bring back small amount you will get threw OK... but if you fill a bag chockas..with fake shoes,or DVD, or shirts you will have a prob...If you bring back 5 shirts,5pants,5dvd, 2 shoes etc... you should'nt have a prob.

good luck

Don't take a suitcase full of fake goods back, caue like most other people said, they will most likely take it all from you. If you get a couple things then it would be ok. but not a suitcase...good luck!

As long as it's not of commercial quantity, like more than 6 of each item. If they don't have tags it might pass as your stuff.
