How do i get from Bangkok to Singapore overland?

How do i get from Bangkok to Singapore overland?

You are completely safe in southern thailand. Anyone who tells you of terrorist threats there is extrmeley misinformed. You will not have a problem. I have done this trip several ways. The bus is vey long and very uncomfortable and I don't reccomend it. The best way is by train if you are insistent on going overland. Make sure you pay just a little bit extra to get a bed because this will be a VERY long journey if you so not. You will go the route the others mentioned. Bangkok-Butterworth then Butterworth to Singapore.

However, if you go directly to Singapore you are actually missing quite a few sights along the way. If you are there on vacation I would suggest taking the ferry over to Penang from Butterworth. This is where I lived. It is an extremely cultural island with a very rich history and beatiful jungles and beaches. Worth the stop for sure.

Then I would definitely suggest stopping by Kuala Lumpur on the train on the way to Singapore. It is a city definitely worth exploring. You can make these stops easily on your train route.

If you are not going to take sightseeing stops and are open to the idea of air travel www.airasia.com has very cheap flights throughout SE Asia. You might find it worth the money and time to make the hop by plane. Hope this helps!

via malaysia. But it is a dangerous route. Because u have to pass through southern Thailand, where there are terrorist problems.

There are a few ways, direct you can take the train.
The train starts in BKK and heads all through Thailand, Malaysia and into Singapore.
You could also break it up via bus/train trips in different segments. As far as Thailand is concerned every city, town has a bus station, usually there is at least one person that speaks english to figure out where your going.

Southern Thailand, Yala/Pattani and Narathawat is abit risky but not via bus or train. I have not heard of any cases of them directly attacking foreigners.

1. bus: bangkok-hatyai, hatyai-butterworth, butterworth-s'pore. it's faster but can be dangerous. i heard that the thai and m'sian bus drivers are quite reckless. there have been a number of accidents involving long distance buses in thailand and malaysia recently.

2. train: bangkok-butterworth, butterworth-s'pore. this is a very very very long journey but the safest and more comfortable and quite cheap too.

3. take a mixture of train and bus.

whichever u choose, you will pass through the south of thailand which is in tourmoil now. but it is safe if you are only transitting and they dont harras tourists.

i hate it when ppl scare monger, there is more danger in my home town than what there is in southern thai

best way after you have come south to hat yai is hat yai to penang, then dropping south to Kl malacca, singapore
i prefer bus travel, dropping off wherever i want

Take a train. It safe, beautiful scenery along the way. Majority of the railway track in Thailand & Malaysia runs through the beautiful country site, paddy fields and tropical forest. Check this site for more:

It is cheap also even for 1st class seat.
