Does anyone know any teaching contacts in Thailand?

I am TEFL qualified but do not have a degree or any experience, I wish to teach in Thailand along with a friend who has a degree and has taught in Taiwan. A lot of the jobs advertised require degrees but I understand that a few schools do accept applicants without. Please help!!!

One thing you will learn about Thailand is that nothing is ever black or white.

The whole area of visa regulations and work permits is full of grey areas, loopholes, confusions and exceptions - half the time even the Immigration Control people in Thailand get it wrong, or apply different interpretations depending on the luck of the draw.

The degree is an issue because a work permit may be refused without it. From time to time they issue edicts to that effect and then issue work permits to people without degrees! Go figure.

Your best bet is to go to Ajarn.com and ask around there. The guys there will know the latest situation on the ground. Very often what's officially announced and what is actually happening there are quite different.

Good luck!

Calm down up there above me!
It could be extremely difficult for you to find a job in Thailand. If you did, it would be illegal work because the laws to obtain a work visa require a degree. Some schools in Bangkok and the far north do this, but the pay is usually very low and being in Thailand is not advisable without the proper papers.
I lived there several years because of my husbands job, and was unable to work the entire time due to the lack of a degree. I'm also TEFL certified.
Good luck whatever you decide. Thailand is wonderful, but you may be best off just taking a long vacation there.
