I am flying into bangkok and only have a one way ticket do i need a tourist visa?

i am starting to get really worried my travel agent has assured me i will not need a visa when entering thailand but i have been on the embassy website and it says you will need round trip tickets specifying when you will be leaving. i also see a similer question on here and someone said they wernt even allowed on the plane without a visa or a ticket showing when they would be leaving. i am travelling on the 29th of feb so if i have to have one i can apply for one in person. The only problem with this is my passport is at the vietnamese embassy at the moment and i wont be getting it back till the 20th leaving me only 8 days to get the visa . Is eight days longlong enough to get ahold of a thai visa or will i be ok without one. any advice would be greatly appriciated im starting to cack it a bit????

As long as you have passport and plane ticket, you will allow on board (in case you're from countires not requiring visa).

Sounds like your travel agent is a dummy. I'm sure you need a two way ticket. You can usually get a "quickie" visa by paying more money.

Don't worry by your name your an expat, there is no problem.

Make sure you know the hotel your staying in you will need it for your visa on arrival, also fill out the both sections of you visa form and the one about your income, false or otherwise.

I have never been asked for an onward ticket, been here 5 years and only ever stay a mnoth at most to lots of in and outs.

you need a return ticket.on the plane you will be given a form to fill out this is your 30 day tourist visa.if you need longer when your 30 days is nearly up your do a visa run.there are companies everywhere that do this costs 2000 baht they drive up to cambodia they do all the work for you then you can reenter thailand for another 30 days.also give you breakfast and lunch in the price

i've traveled to thailand on a 1 way ticket with emerites...no problem....

As member of ASEAN a Vietnamese is allowed to enter Thailand visa-free for 30days
Upon entry to Thai immigration, you will not be required to show your return ticket but it might be required in your country of origin (Vietnam)
It is in the Vietnam airport departure area where you will be required to show your return ticket. If this is not required then you can always purchase online when you get to Thailand
