Where is the best plaace to go during the songkran festival? |
i there for 2 weeks Oh have many places to travel ! what is it it sounds like fun I've stumbled into Bangkok during Songkran and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Get yourself down the Khao San Road on an evening and it's rocking - as is the rest of the city. Don't miss it! The 3 largest most well known areas to go to is Chiang Mai, Khao San Road in Bangkok, and Pattaya. Chiang Mai is the largest, Khao San Road is the most crowded in a small area with the most foreigners, but Pattaya is by far the wildest if your on beach road. Just do a www.youtube.com search for "songkran" and you will see the best videos are all in Pattaya. Plus it's 7 days long in Pattaya, it's only 3 days long everywhere else in Thailand, and they don't sleep in Pattaya so it's going all night even at 4am in the morning they are out in the streets. Best time I ever had. My friends house in Issan. But then of course you won'tbe going there. The places everyone have told you are the big parties but anywhere you are is great. You don't have to be in New York to enjoy New Years eve. If you like tourist type of fun, Pattaya, Phuket, Bangkok and Chiangmai are the places to be. Foreigners go there to enjoy the water-fights with the locals. Bangkok go to the Khao San Road, Pattaya has their Songkran later to go their the following weekend. Khoosan road in bangkok where all the backpackers stay,is well worth going it is great fun.I went to the village where my wife comes from and also had a brilliant time.I dont think it matters much because everbody is out to get you with water, enjoy yourself,i wish i was going this year. Here are 219 actual photographs taken at the 2007 Songkran on Khao San Road in Bangkok to give you a realistic idea what Songkran is all about. |
