How can I extend my Transit Visa in Thailand for another month?

My visa is valid for a month (Transit Visa). I need to get the same extended for another month for official reasons. How to go about it?

It depends upon your nationality. Assuming this facility is allowed for your nationality, you can do something called as the Visa Run. It costs about THB 2500 per person. You'll have to enroll with a travel agency that offers this Visa Run service. They will take you and other 'visa runners' by bus to the nearest Thai border, either with Cambodia or Laos. You exit Thailand on foot and cross into either Cambodia or Laos. After an hour's stay in that country, you return by foot into Thailand and a visa valid for one-month stay will be stamped in your passport by Thai immigration.

However, as I said, please ensure this facility is available for your nationality. Thai agencies that offer the Visa Run offer no guarantees whether you'll be able to exit or re-enter Thailand by road and money paid is non-refundable.

Also, you'll need to ensure that Cambodia or Laos allows people of your nationality to enter and exit by road/ land border.

The other option is to fly on budget airline, Air Asia to Laos or Cambodia and return to Thailand, where a tourist visa is issued, again, depending upon your citizenship.

The last option is to have the visa extended at Thai immigration office in Bangkok or other major cities but you'll need a Thai speaking person to assist you in this endeavor.

Assuming you will be travelling from Bangkok, and you received a visa on arrival when you came to Thailand you can do so by doing a visa run (go to Cambodia to get a new visa on arrival) with Jack Golf Tours. If you have a valid air ticket for onward travel you can leave at 5 am from Sukumvit Soi 12, or if you do not depart at 7 am from the same spot. The visa runs are done daily.

The cost for the 5 am bus is 2000 baht, 2200 baht if you leave at 7 am.
