Whats the cheapest way to get to bangkok ( jun - jul '08)?

1. i live on the gold coast, queensland (close to brisbane)
2. i don't mind bus/ rail travel. (ie. flight to singapore/kuala lumpur, then bus to bangkok)?
3. how about crewing on a ship?
4. cheers

There won't really be much difference int eh costs of flying to Singapore and flying direct to Thailand. And the time you'll save will be more worthwhile. Sure, it can be an experience to travel through malaysia but then it really depends on how long you're going for and what your motive for travel is. Basically, if you only have a few weeks in Thailand, it would be a shame to waste them on a train or bus in Malaysia. But, if you have a few months then you can make that journey part of your trip. Malaysia is very cheap so it won't really add to your expense. If you have the time, the best bet will probably be to fly in to singapore and then out of another airport, say Bangkok.

Personally though, rather than spending time in Malaysia, i'd go to Campbidia and Laos!

Cheapest way is paddle a kayak because apart from no fuel or fares you'll sell your story for a huge profit.

Jetstar will be the cheapest to get there through Singapore. Book early.
