I'm want to go to Bangkok on Feb17, 2008 but my passport is valid until Aug7, 2008 only can I still go?

Yes you can.

Although, strictly speaking, the rules say that the passport have to be valid six months beyond the date of entry these rules are not strictly observed. I've entered Thailand with less than three months, but then the immigration officer questioned me to ensure I didn't stay beyond 30 days (i.e., left before expiration of my passport).

If you don't plan to stay in Bangkok past the August 7th date, then you have nothing to worry about. Just make sure you get back to the States before your passport expires.

You have time now to extend your passport validity. Why not get it done and avoid unnecessary questioning from the Thai Immigration?
