Pattaya, Hua Hin or Krabi?

I am going to Phuket for 5 nights, then?????? for 4 nights and then Bangkok for 2 nights. I do want night life, but not the sleaze. I have read many past answers which have turned me off Pattaya, but do the other places have enough to do? Or can someone please recommend another place? We love restaurants and bars and music. Any advice, will be much appreciated.

If you want to avoid the sleaze then stay away from pattaya and even hua hin now (which used to be ok but has really become another pattaya)

Krabi has much less of that and there are some great trips that can be made form Krabi. Rae Lay (check the spelling!!) Beach is a highlight and there are some great kayak trips that can be done from round there. Rock climbing is also great in that region.

If you want a really chilled time, about an hour north of Phuket is Khao Lak. Really beatiful beach and very laid back. Ko Lanta is another example of laid back although the last time i was there it was less built up. Which was great!

If you want something more adventurous then take a tour to the Khao Sok National Park.

Hi Angie, seeing you will be in Phuket, Krabi will be just nearby. You can even take a boat trip tour to go there. So for your next stay, plan on going to Hua Hin. It will be a pleasant stay for you. Get a hotel/resort by the beach and let the morning sun greets you. You get the setting sun in Phuket/Krabi.

There will still be some bars and clubs to get to, not sleazy for sure. And seafood that is great too.

Enjoy your stay.

Yeah stay away from pattaya. to much sleaze nd prostitution. lots of she-men they actually have a street/road at nite where they check for id before you go in due to external stripper boxes etc. so best krabi.

I think it depends on your sex :

- if you are a woman then you should not go to Pattaya because there is the nightlife hardcore. Because you are already in Phuket I would connect it with Krabi (same area of Thailand)

- if you are a man then you should go to Pattaya because there is the nightlife hardcore. There are so many beerbars, gogobars but also discos. What ever you will visit, most means sex.
It麓s the cheapest place in Thailand for hotels, food and sex.

Yeah, stay away from Pattaya if you are a prude. Some really, really nice places in Pattaya, and lots of fun, but if you want everyone to be like you, then it isn't your place.

Koh Chang is quite a wonderful holiday place. Very quiet island, but plenty of bars and smaller places. Not much in the way of prostitution that is real obvious.

Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai also are two nice alternatives and you will see a different side of Thailand; more natural, less touristy, some mountains; you might even be lucky enough to see some Long Neck Karen tribes. Those areas are spread out, group tours would be a good idea.

Now, my opinion of Phuket (except for the day trips to islands and Phang Nga) is BORING. And not at all the Thailand I love and live in. Too much like a resort for old western European couples, but if that is what you like, you'll love it. Don't miss FantaSea; and the buffet is good....pay for the best seats.

Pattaya is now the second largest city in Thailand...for a reason; a lot to do with sexual freedom, a lot to do with human freedom and fun.

If I was you I would spend a few days in Hua Hin, but be very very careful,.....

You wont want to leave!!!

Firstly, Pattaya is disgusting. Really, don't go there if you want to avoid the sleaze!! Personally I didn't care much for Phuket either, but it is a lot better than Pattaya.

Krabi is pretty small and quiet. We spent a night there when travelling from Bangkok to Phi Phi and honestly I wouldn't particularly recommend it. There's very little to do and no real nightlife to speak of.
You should take the ferry to Phi Phi. Gourgeous little island with lots of bars and the snorkelling is amazing.
Koh Tao is supposed to be very nice too.

We also went to Chiang Mai which is a city north of Bangkok. We did the elephant trekking there, which we loved and visited the night market, which is huge.
We flew from there Phuket, then flew back down to Bangkok to come home. Very cheap internal flights.

Have a look at my website for some piccies!
