I got a job in Assumption College Nakhon Ratchasima. 17000bath and 2500 house allowance. Is that a good pay?

I will be paid 17000 after 3 months. They are giving 50%cconcession for my daughter in the same school for her education. They usally charge 60000 bath for an year but for my daughter it's 30000 bath/yr. Can I take this offer? They have assured of private classes too. Can I save at least 10000 bath per month? I am 35y/f Anglo-Indian Kindergarten teacher with B.A(Eng)degree with 12 years experience in teaching Nursery/ Primary and at present working in an International School with ICGSE curriculum. Is it a far pay?

I think the offer is on the low side and you certainly will not be able to save any money on that salary.

ABAC is a good university and salaries up-country are lower than in Bangkok, but if you accept less than 25-30,000 baht per month, it will be very difficult for you to put even a satang aside.

Does ABAC provide you with a work permit?

actually it doesn't sound bad.

But why not check a website that specialises in overseas education opportunities like Dave's ESL Cafe or Ajarn.com (Ajarn means teacher in Thai language) and ask the question there in the Thailand section.

I'm sure you'll get a lot of good information. Better than here.

You can accept the offer. You could ask for more, but if I were you I would accept it. You have some issues that you have overcome. You may want to continue to look while you are working there.

Congrats on the job. If you do not go out very often and the school takes care of all visa expenses you can save some money, certainly. It would help if your housing costs are not much more than 2500 a month.

Sorry mate I would not accept less than 30,000. I have had 3 jobs in Thailand and each of them paid 30K+. Public schools.

It will be your choice, seeing that you had been asking about this for some time and with the many answers you had received in your previous questions.

You had been given guides on expected pay for overseas teachers, so you should know how your proposed pay compares.

Cost of living in Nakhon Ratchasima is not that high. Lower than Bangkok, or other cities. The housing allowance can probably get you a room for your family. Like a small apartment. You need about 7000-8000baht a month for a house rental.

Cooking in will save you some money. Eating out as the local for a small family will probably cost about 300baht a meal So you can work out your expenses.

Good luck and congrats on your job offer.

Not so bad, but if I were you I will accept it. prime commodities are not expensive in Thailand , in fact for 7 months that we stayed in Thailand we were able to save more than 15,000 baht worth of coupons from groceries and also with the buy 1 take 1 promo of laundry soap, toiletries and rice.
Anyway once you already have permanent residency you can find high paying jobs there. Try jobsdb.com and you will find a lot of job opportunities and also from weekend newspapers.

I would not get out my bed for less than 1000 us a DAY tell them to poke the job! your educated why the f u ck do u want to work for s h it money like this?

Since your spelling and grammar is not that good, and for an English teacher, I think they are overpaying you. Accept the offer before they withdraw it.

Really, I think you must have hit rock bottom if you accept this - it's a pitiful amount of money - even for Thailand. OK so you will be working in Nakhon Nowhere, and prices will be a little lower there, but even so...

"Can I save 10000 baht per month" - absolutely no way on that salary.

On the other hand, it would be a first step into the country (presumably) - a chance to find your feet etc.

I would be sorely tempted to look around - I wouldn't accept anything less than around 30-35kBaht per month.
