Is marijuana worth the risk?

I have just moved to thailand to a private school and most of my friends smoke it. Most of them say if you get caught you can just pay off the police with $5-6.

All of it is very tempting but I dont know. Any advice? How are the laws enforced here? I live in bangkok

Best advice is don't do it. No Thai police is going to accept $5 or 6 dollars for that offense. There going to want thousands of bahts.

NOT WORTH IT man! Stay out of marijuana. Marijuana will ruin your life, & health expect to die from lung cancer 25-20 years from now if you start smoking marijuana. Even if most of your friends are smoking marijuana Don't Do It ! If they're your real friends they'll understand that you don't want to smoke marijuana.

its worth the risk. i mean all weed does is just show you your trueself, it isnt a drug its just a plant. truely. have you ever heard of someone actually dieing from it , no. do what you like, what you feel is right. you should look up how the laws are in bang kok on google.

I've tried it back then...what do you gain from it???? NOTHING! I learned in life: **** what ppl think about your status. Yeah ppl will think you're cool but the wrong ppl are the ones who think you are cool. Just be yourself. Trust me i got further in life that way.

if you want to try it, go ahead.
the biggest concern is law enforcement- but if all your friends do it, then the risk probably isn't high.

What losers ...why do something in reality that you dont really want to do...just because people agree against your opinion doesnt make them right....do what makes you happy..
just remember that anything in excessive cant bring up good habits..if you like it do it..but not cuz others are doing it either

If you want to try marijuana to impress your friends, or if you are being pressurised by them, don't do it. It's not that exciting, and in the long run you will get far more respect from friends by showing you are your own man rather than a maneuverable lackey.

On the other hand, if you want to try it 'because it's there' and if it's important to you not to skip a single word in the 'book of life' then you may have other views. Enjoy yourself, don't get caught, and if you are caught take your punishment like a man, especially in front of your parents.

As a school going kid, I am sure you can study and understand what had been written about narcotics. You have read and understood what damages these can do to your brain. So if you understand, what the heck do you want to try it for? The damages caused are permanent and if you like laughing at clowns who act foolish for a purpose, I am sure you do not want to be a permanent clown whom people laugh at without you knowing why.

You are young, stay healthy and stay out of drugs.

No matter what your friends can tell you about the benefits, remember it only lasted with the drug in you. You do not want to be a dopey forever, right? So stay out.

And with the new Govt, I am sure you read about the 2000 plus people who died during the last crackdowns on drugs by the enforcement people. You do not want to add on to that number.

You will only feel a lil bitof buzz the first time and then to reach taht buzz agen u will over do it then do yourself harm. a police dude came ta my skool to tell us about it. also you cud buy of the police but man thats immoral. besides talk to your parents about. if you dont wanna tell them dont even touch the dam drug.

Nah. It's not worth it. Not only that you have to worry about the brush with the law, you will damage your brain. Don't listen to your classmates. They obvously damaged theirs. It's not right to influence someone into using illegal drugs.

and when they start seeing that you are a "farang" and can likely afford more bribe money... can you afford that? When they start demanding $50 $60 and more... what then?

And all it takes is ONE police who does not like the look of you and you are history. Will your friend be "cool" and come to your rescue then? LOL - you will find the word "friends" disappear very fast.

If you think it's worth it go ahead. Just DO NOT say that people here have not warn you when you face get shown all over Thai news on television while you are hauled off to prison. Over there - there is none of this "pixelating" out face for "alledged" crimes like in other countries

Thailand is not the place to get caught with drugs on you. Maybe go to a friend's place and smoke their pot, but I wouldn't carry it around. I'd buy it, smoke it, and go on with life without drugs on me.

Eek. I answered a question about weed and Thailand and it was talking 25 years for posession. Of under an ounce..of marijuana. That's crazy nonsense is what it is.

I'd go across the boarder to whatever other country there is that maybe has less strict laws and try to smoke there.

Just keep your wits about you. The laws in Thailand are similar to anywhere in SE Asia (though Malaysia and Singapore are the worst). If you are hangin' with friends and locals that you trust than go ahead but be smart like you would anywhere. Don't go looking for it either, just take it if it comes in the right environment. I also suggest not carrying it with you. It is so damn cheap that it is not worth the risk of traveling with weed. You certainly don't need weed to have a good time there or anywhere in SE Asia, but if you wanna smoke it just use your head. Remember, you're in a foreign country.

Money talks in Thailand.
If you are a westerner the Police will just want more money out of you.

Marijuana is a lame drug anyway, I wouldn't even waste my $ buying it.
