am spending 7 weeks in australia sept/oct ,am travelling to perth on Indian Pacific ,7days there fly to Alice 7days Ghan to Adelaide & Sydney ,4 weeks with relatives then 3 days in sydney before flying home ,what are the things that i must do in that short time ?

Here's a tour that gives you the best of Sydney. The other must do's are climb the bridge, go on a sunset harbour cruise, and visit Darling Harbour.

Half-day Sydney city tour. Travel to the charming Rocks area, where you take a stroll around the historic area, with its quaint old cottages, pubs & churches. Rejoin the vehicle & travel along Macquarie St, the seat of government for NSW, the Mint & Hyde Park Barracks. Pass St Mary鈥檚 Cathedral, visit Mrs Macquarie鈥檚 Chair for an unsurpassed view of Sydney Harbor, the Opera House & Bridge. Continuing along the shores of Sydney Harbor, you travel through Kings Cross, Double Bay & Rose Bay. Passing by the up market real estate, pause briefly for morning tea in the beautiful Sydney Harbor National Park. Continue further to South Head, with its breathtaking views of Sydney Harbor & the city. Take a short stroll along the cliff tops & rejoin the vehicle to continue to Bondi Beach & Centennial Park returning to Circular Quay at where your tour ends.

Enjoy!!!

opera house :]] its pretty and beautiful and well i just love sydney haha

You are sooo lucky!!!! I'm v jealous!
I was lucky enough to spend a week in syndey about 3 yrs ago, which is not enough time. Sydney Harbour is beautiful, and you have to see the Opera House and the bridge.
It's great there, you'll have a fab time!

Ohhhhhhhhh i love SYDNEY!!
Kings cross is a real eye opener and a Sydney Trade Mark.
Centre point tower
Sydney Opera house.
Lady Macquaries Chair-absolutely gorgeous spot.
St Mary's cathedral-walking distance from Kings Cross-Definately a must see, its an absolutely beautiful cathedral.
Hyde Park is a gorgeous spot to sit and take in the whole atmosphere of Sydney life.
Darling Harbour is great to see, take a ride on the monorail.
Sydney National Park is a great walk with some fantastic views of the ocean.
All these tourist spots that i've just mentioned should be very easy to find in a travel brochure.
Be sure to take a camera and plenty of film (unless you have a digital), here are some photo's you dont want to miss out on.
Have fun and enjoy Sydney's sights.

Sleep!! u will have jetlag. When I went to Australia I slept 4 18 hours when i got off the plane. LOL

Go to Manley on the ferry, great photo opportunity for taking pictures of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge and Manley is a lovely place to visit too, the Botanical Gardens are worth a visit as is a trip over to Doyle's fish restaurant by boat, the food is beautiful, a bit of a shop round the city centre is a must too, some great shops in Sydney, if you have the head for heights you can walk over the harbour bridge too, I couldn't do it but my hubby did, there is a lot to see and do in Sydney, fab place but Australia is a fab place to visit, can't wait to go again next year, enjoy your trip.

I'm from Sydney already and proud. Never would want to live elsewhere.

There's lots to see and do here in Sydney. For a start, visit Sydney Harbour (Opera House, Harbour Bridge) for a few pics. Here's also a few of my favourite localities whenever I visit the city:

* Centrepoint Tower
* Luna Park
* Pitt Street Mall
* Taronga Zoo
* Sydney Wildlife World / Aquarium
* IMAX Theatre (Darling Harbour)
* China Town / Haymarket

If Sydney isn't enough, head out west to the Blue Mountains.

I hope the list helps. Enjoy your time in Sydney!
