Is Bell Island a nice place? Is it convenient to live there and work in St. John's?

Just by looking at the map Bell Island seems to be a pretty nice sized island so I am hoping (fingers crossed!) that property is not nearly as expensive there as in S. John's....Anyway, just looking for your thoughts, thanks

I read that to ferry your car across only costs 2.50 if you are a commuter...

It's very nice. I visit a few times every summer.
the ferry ride is only 15-20 minutes and people who live there have first priority on the ferry coming off Bell Island but it's first come, first serve going back.
You'll find that houses are A LOT cheaper then living in st.John's.

Most people who work have to commute to St.John's so a lot of people there do it and It is very rare for a ferry not to be able to cross and in most situations if the ferry is not running the place you are working is probably going to be closed anyway.

It is a nice place and the property values are lower. However, with the extreme winter weather, the ferry gets shut down quite often. That means, if it happens in the morning, you won't get to work. If it happens in the evening, you will have to spend the night at a hotel in St. John's.

My cousin lives in paradise looking at bell island. land and housing is cheap, roads are ALWAYS cleared (part of the town by-laws) and there is not as much risk of getting stuck without ferry service.

But to answer your question, yes, it is entirely reasonable to do that.
