A friend asked me last week whether crime is a weapon to get rid of Whites. Beeld reported that a victim in Centurion was told by a group of robbers 鈥渨e will kill all whites鈥? (Why they did not kill this victim is not sure.) Victim surveys also tell us that Whites and Indians feel more unsafe than Blacks and Coloureds.

But here is an interesting statistic from Jonny Steinberg, one of the more sane voices on crime: Whites constitute 1 in 11 of the population (just over 9%) but only 1 in 33 of murder victims. Your best chance of being a murder victim is if you are Black, male and young. Driving Whites out.......?

I REPEAT I DO NOT CONDONE ANY KIND OF CRIME, WHAT IS ANGERING ME IS THAT THERE SEEMS TO BE THIS PERCEPTION THAT WHITES ONLY ARE VICTIMS OF CRIME AND ALSO THAT THE MANY OTHER VICTIMS OF CRIME IN OUR COUNTRY DON'T SEEM TO COUNT ANYMORE....

Yes they are, as much as everyone else here in South Africa across all races.

My brother was shot in Cape Town in 2001, it was so senseless. He was wheelchair bound then passed away the very same year.

Daily son reports so many black deaths, the obituary takes up at least 2 pages. Most are young.

But everyone is a victim.

Chickyboo if you read or heard of some violent crimes going on in rural/township areas you would puke. Some of these acts are so sadistic, you wonder if satan was there himself doing all these ill things to these people. I beg you not to live in ignorance my friend. Experience can only open up your mind. At age 10, my folks saw a man getting shot, my mom refused to let me see his body, but it was just outside our yard. The crook took his groceries then shot him in the head. Some things you just need to see for yourself...

I agree with you. I dislike the distinction that you have used to separate the different ethnic backgrounds. My parents are from SA and if I lived there I would be upset to be branded coloured. As an ex victim of extreme apartheid laws I am still offended by the term.

Well as an outsider I geese that the saying as ye shall sow so ye shall reap.and find it hard to believe that all Africans see themselves as one nation.As a person born and raised in the UK I have seen and been on the receiving end of racial differences, not including differences caused by social abnormalities.I've been called a ********* by Scots,Irish and Welsh. If we cant sort out the UK i a little over 1000 years, I think your new State is not doing too bad

Everyone is. But what I noticed was that there was more black on black crime than on whites.

Whites are not the only victims of crime. However, when my Venda friend was held up in her home she was told that she is lucky that she isn't white because otherwise they would have killed her. This could have been a random criminal's point of view and not the norm but it is a scary thought all the same and I thank God he stuck to it and left her alive.

Whites are not the only victims of crime, they are the victims of violent crimes. There so many reports where because the victim was white, they had an extra brutal beating and torture and rape. Instead of just stealing, the robbers also like to inflict pain on white people. I posted a comment a while back how robbers were attacking 2 white security men, and when their gun misfired (several times) they shouted, "kill this dog, kill this white dog". Even though they had given the crooks everything, and did everything they wanted. It wasnt enough, the "white dogs" had to die.

Look at the farm killings. Not only do they kill the white farmers, they torture them to death.

A family close to my parent house were beaten for hours! Over a cellphone and a TV. That was not just a robbery, that was a delibrate attack on white people.

Some of my black co works have told me how at these ANC rallies, they are told it is ok to hurt and kill white people, because 'they deserve it'. They have been told they will be rewarded for their efforts in killing white people. You dont believe me? Mail me and I will give you their numbers.

Yes we are ! I do not believe your statistics . I have never heard that any white person ever claims that crime only happens to whites ! I'll kiss your feet if you can give me that link to a person who ever said that ! Yes, I believe more crimes happen to black people for a lot of reasons but the most murders and violent crimes do tend to happen to white people as they are seen as easy ,rich targets ! We dont even have to talk about farm murders to know that something is wrong . CRIME HAPPENS TO EVERYBODY !

I think whites are the targets of violence, because they are white. Whereas I think that the other victims of crime are random, or on a more personal level ie related.
I have always been concerned about the levels of crime in townships, etc.
BTW Has the term "coloured" ever been offensive in South Africa? I know it is in America, but I have always considered it in the same light as "white" or "black" - ie one of mixed descent. IMO the sooner we are all "coloured" the better.

anyone feel unsafe in south no matter if you black `coloreds or white.people are crazy to kill one another what did the get out of it.we live in a sick world with lot of sick people.they kill a lot of innocent people just for fun.all our people are afraid to be in your car house on street.i think we as citizen of the country must kill all the sick bastards then life will be better for most of our people

Yes and no. Whites may be "targeted" more often, but we all suffer equally from crime, white or black or in between. Percentages don麓t mean a thing, not all crime is reported, and the government does not regard every misdeed as crime!

I had a coloured worker who was offered some stolen goods to purchase. Her comment that the seller would most likely come and steal it back from her again, was countered with " don麓t worry, I won麓t steal from you, I only steal from the boere".

Another incident, where a burglar breaking into a house encountered a black man in the house. When he was informed that this man was the homeowner, the burglar apologised and instead of killing the man as he had intended, he escaped with only the cellphone.

I've lived in South Africa for quite a long time. Crime is there, but its not that bad as people try to make it is. Its like any big city where there is big difference between rich and poor.
Your statistics prove themselves that robberies happen to pretty much anyone, but burglaries in generally happens to the rich, whether white or black.
I find many white South African always say negative things about the new South Africa because they left when majority rule came into place, basically most white South Africans I've come accross are racist, ask every white English person you know they will tell you the same thing about Soffaz.

Plus have anyone noticed that even when you talk to them, its always i know someone.........
