Do South African advertisments often feature celebrities?

Mostly sport stars are used like our rugby heroes or swimming stars, not really singers, actors etc.

Yes there are ads that often feature south african celebs like sports people or actors from the local programmes....
Why do you ask...?

In some instances only. It could be that the asking price for celebs is too expensive for South African companies and they tend to use 'normal' people like us instead at a fraction of the cost.

Yes they do... especially the radio ads, because the voices are recognisable. Most have been in this business for a while and know what they're doing, so briefing them, I often find, isnt a mission like with new people. The problem though is that they're pricy as compared to new talent from agencies. Most of them are brands on their own eg. DJ Fresh... by using him, you boost your own brand as well.
