Are WOMEN more SPIRITUAL than MEN?

It is said women are more likely to pray than men鈥︹€omen are also more likely than men to experience spiritual and especially psychological distress鈥︹€︹€omen Are the Backbone of religious congregations in鈥︹€omen are much more inclined than are men to say that they are
absolutely committed" to religious faith鈥︹€︹€ore than often men just brag about their spirituality, but women live it鈥︹€︹€?Generally people get shocked by women who do immoral acts than when it鈥檚 men鈥︹€?


Do these things means that women are superior to men in spirituality. Do they have subtler senses鈥?. are they more sensitive, compassionate and loving, more mystic and get easily spiritually enlightened?

All right, here we go.....

1. Both men and women experience the same amounts of distress. We usually attribute the expression of such feelings to women, since men are traditionally conditioned from a young age to not show such emotion.

2. It is true that women are more likely to seek refuge in religious organizations (there are far more nuns than pastors), but this is probably so more for social than spiritual reasons.

4. Any person who says they are "absolutely committed" to their religious concepts can be said to be "bragging" about their faith. In my experience, women are more guilty of this than men.

5. Like I said, "immorality" is concerned with morality, not spirituality. People are shocked by woman's "immoral" acts purely because such acts contravene our stereotypical gender roles, which, of course, usually bear little resemblance to reality.

This time, in quite a few words, the answer is a resounding no.

I have always wondered it about this. It seems to me that women ARE more spiritual than men, in general, but all the greatest spiritual teachers in history have been male.

When it comes to issues of feelings and stuff, women are affected easily.
Thats why they cry in movies and stuff like that.

And churches play on peoples guilt to lock them in hence so many ladies go to church.

Women are more emotional beings than men, men try to make everything seem logical and fit in place which makes it more difficult for them to just believe and accept God. Spirituality is in essence not really a science that can be proved and verified.

Theresa: Have you ever thought that the reason for men being the major spiritual contributors throughout history, might be because women were seldom, if ever seen as equals and their contributions might have been shot down in principle, during the middle ages women were hardly even seen as human beings.

Zimmy, I,m afraid that I cannot agree with you here. I have come across many religious men as there have been women. Again, this is a personal preference, not a gender one.
