One piece of advise that you would never forget?

what is the one advise that some one told you that you live by and will teach to your kids.

i was in gr1 when my principal told me to stay a kid as long as i can. and tust me i am!

I have a lot of contact with "newly single mums".

Around the time of my seperation, I had some events happening to me that was a lot worse to me than the husband leaving. On a particularly traumatic day, a friend took me to one side, and told me: " When you hit rock bottom, the only way is up."

It got me through that day, and a lot of other bad days as well. :-) I also call my news letter "The only way is up" because of this.

And even when life is really good, it will be a good thing to believe that it is only going to get better. :-)

I read somewhere a while back, that when you do a good thing for someone... you never know, it just may come back to you when you most need it. If it doesnt, at least you're making a difference and should be proud of yourself...

I live by that and it gives me such great pleasure to help others out where I can. :o)

I certainly don't live my life by this advise, but it is always at the back of my mind.
Shortly before my father was murdered in 2002, and stories of the many South Africans emigrating were doing the rounds, he told me that in his opinion South Africa was "still the best place to be" and "Australia was for queers".
I don't believe he would have carried that belief had he seen what South Africa would become or knowing what his own fate would be at the hands of the New South African monster.
I suppose he was always more "African" than I am though, speaking virtually all of the African languages and having lived in the Congo, Zambia, Rhodesia and South Africa.

When I finished high school my English teacher wrote on my 'skoolhemp' "Never stop giving". It wasn't until later in life that I started doing that and I am a better person for doing so. I feel very gratified when I can give someone something, like advice or even material things.

One piece of advice that i always try my best to follow throught is to show respect to others and they in turn will treat you the same. :) Hope you got a lovely treat from your Valentine, even if it was just a little weed-flower.:)

Always be proud of your heritage........my parents

My Father told me , when I was very young, He said " Son, you are born at A and you die at Z and in between you have all of the letters that you need to write your own novel."
and this is what I am doing.

My dad had two rules I will never forget. Be kind, and do not drink and drive. I do not drink alcohol so nr 2 is easy

Never wear underwear or socks with holes in it, one never knows when one will be in an accident and everyone will see it!! Ha. ha!! Who has not heard that one?

My advice to my daughters: Make sure you study and follow a decent career so that you do not have to depend on any man to support you.

MY DAD TAUGHT MY BROTHERS AND MYSELF """"THAT IF YOU DONT PUT ANYTHING INTO THIS WORLD DONT EXPECT TO TAKE ANYTHING OUT OF IT"""

My mother always gave me the same advice that Cakes has given her daughters regarding independance.

The other one was: It is in giving that you will receive, and it is in receiving that you are able to give again.

To always carry myself through life with dignity and self-respect.
To always respect other people, irrelevant of their colour or their status.

It's not so much advise, more of a truth which I apply to my life.

Someone once told me that all things pass, good and bad, and I live by that.
When things in my life seem a little upside down, I just remind myself that eventually it will pass. When things are going very well, I remind myself that the good wil also pass.

It keeps me grounded and continuosly looking to the future.
(I think I've mentioned this on here before)

Always tell the truth.
