Do white people know there is a big difference?

Do White people know that there is a difference between black people not one homoginious group, different languages, different cultures and different perspectives on life and what's their take on the different cultures in south africa

Oh sweetheart, you've gotten yourself into a bit of a sticky situation.

I'm sure a lot of White South Africans are aware of that.

It could be seen from accross the board I suppose. There are specific racist people who'd rather choose to believe blacks are all the same despite the cultural divides and differences. Also in the same light, black people who choose to believe that all whites are the same.

I think to a degree i do understand what you mean, but grouping all people isnt fair my love.

There is one regular here who hates blacks and puts us under the same umbrella and thinks we are uncivilized and are monkeys. People like her shouldnt define the rest of the white nation.

Hope I've helped out. Have a good day dear, mwah!!!

Well I know I understand that, and I also know there is a big difference between all the nationalites that are thrown under the category "white." Different languages, cultures, religions, and perspectives. I am totally different than someone over in Europe who is white, I have absolutely no connection to any of the white settlers who moved the Native Americans from their homes or owned slaves, because my ancestors didn't come to America until the 1900s. We are all unique, and people will always group races into one general group.

your making this seem as though all Caucasian people are racist ? ! when you call us white and yourselves black we ( the whites ) are actually the colored ones. in science white is known as every color, Roy G. Biv ( red orange yellow green blue indigo violet ) the colors of the rainbow, the only real colors. black is known as not a color

I know it. I know first hand. The Ghanaian I dated was way different then the Haitian.

You are putting "White People" in a slot. Why? Some know the difference and some dont. Some White Peole dont even know where Africa is and some know the customs of many Black tribes. Some care and some dont care.
Almost every country on the planet and especially in Europe, Asia and the Orient, have many many Tribes and cultures. Most dont mak a big deal out of them and some have all but discarded Tribalism and moved on. Why dont you?
Larry P

Yes i know that. In South Africa there are different people and cultures and even many different "tribal" languages. If you look at all of the races together it seems as if we differ quite a bit, but that's only the phenotype. Our phenotypes (what determines are looks) are quite different and I am so thankful for that. What a wonderful variety! But our genotypes (the way were are actually put together) only differs by about .2%.

Just like their are many varieties of white people, there are just as many varieties of black people (not just one homoginous, or evenly mixed group that are the same throughout), and Asian people too. I don't know about you, but I am so thankful for every different culture of which I can learn about and for the different looks and personalities of each individual!

Great question!

yes! of course!!!!! colour isn't really the thing that divides people - culture is! it just so happens that the different cultures tend to look the same!

i think it's really naive to classify the whole of africa as one group, just because they're black! it's like saying a finish guy is the same as a french guy... or a japanese and vietnamese is the same... BIG Difference!

in south africa i know the difference between the main culture groups, for example the northern sotho's, xhosas and zulu's - even though their all black cultures, every group has different features and colouring! and different personality traits!

i've only actually worked with a few zulu's, what i immediately noticed was their pride (but in a good way - not arrogance!). not to sure what the other groups represent though! =)

Maybe you should be asking this on the american section. We South Africans are fully informed about all our many cultures, be they black or white or in-between. We all have different cultures, traditions, languages, descents, expectations of life, attitudes towards the government and many more differences. That is why we are called the rainbow nation, because we are all different coulurs of black, brown and white. So, I do not quite understand your question. Of course we know there is a big difference between black people. There is also a big difference between white people. Did you know that? And there is also a big difference between brown people.

Yes We do, that's why there was apartheid the people then didn't know how to handle it back then and still now we struggle with it cause of the culture differences , not of the skin colour That why there was A Zulu land , Xosa land ,Sotho land ,Wenda land ,Twana land because of there diffreences of culture and languages

yes boo, there is a difference. africans can never understand what black americans go through.

Your question is a very sad one as you see color as separating people. Do you know that the same God who made you also made me? Do you know that that same God loves me as much as He loves you?
Do you know that it is not co lour that is the divide it is your mindset. I am white, I am not superior but I am different to you in my culture. Equally your culture is different to mine and you are not superior to me.
I can have more in common with black Christians than I can with a whole nation of white secular people.
When I see people I do not notice colour as a first thing. I wonder why people think like they do and what governments have brainwashed people into the way they think.
Educate yourself and read, read, read, until you understand what YOU believe, and not have someone telling you what to believe.
I suggest you start with the best book in the world, the Holy Bible.

I don't mean to be mean in anyway but the way you make it sound is all white are unaware and not educated when that can be said the same about some blacks as well !

What is it with your stupid questions, do you honestly think that we do not know????especially white South Africans, WE KNOW HOW YOU ACT, HOW YOU THINK, HOW YOU WORK, WHAT YOU LIKE, AND WHO YOU DO NT LIKE....
Rather ask this stupid question to another site, I am sure you will find that 99% of the answers will be YES WE DO...

Did YOU know that South Africans know more about their own country, cultures and history than anyone else across the world knows about theirs? LOL!!! Get real Daykes!

Tell that to the African Americans

uBhutiwam, I knew that... most people in SA, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Zambia (any left?) know that..... What is your point? I think you should direct this question at Europeans.

This question puts you in a bad light !

People who think like above are xenophobic. Usually this translates backwards to being a racist and a bigot.

Many SA graduates have studied African languages and culture as part of their courses. We are not all ignorant.
