What bedtime story do you read to your child/ren before they go to sleep? |
Or do you sing a song? At the moment I am reading them Rivierplaas by Alba Bouwer. I bought the Rivierplaas Omnibus (3 books) through Leserskring. They love the stories of Alie and her friends on the farm. When they were smaller I was so busy so I only read them Nursery rhymes every night, because it was quick....bad Mommy I told them all the bed time stories we know , drie varkies , rooikappie , gouelokkies etc ,etc Until they told me I am a liar because I told them stories that I stole from their teacher ! Drie varkies is actualy the three little pigs ,which the teacher told them first ! (I send them to a English pre-primary last year ) i don't have any children but i do have many nieces and nephews and when they come to sleep over i usually tell them one of the usual fairytales but i add in my own twists.its alot of fun Ek het net n' peetkind maar ek het altyd al die bekendes gelees en vertel soos die drie beertjies, sneeuwitjie, rooikappie, aspoestertjie en goue lokkies en cd's gespeel van die dapper muis, die lappop en liewe heksie maar lol sy is al 14 en brittany is nou tops volgens haar??? you might lol but my kids loved it when I sang to them Silent Night, and I use to read them RUMPELSTILTSKIN, and the EMPERORS NEW CLOTHES, my one daughter tells me that I scared her when I read to her Goldilocks, and Red Riding Hood....she says she still remembers how scared she used to get when I read these stories to her...I wish I was more careful with my selection.... Ja, I had this big old story book with all the fairytales and I would let them chose one every night. My daughter always wanted to hear Snow White, Goldilocks etc., and my son used to get mad saying that he didn't want to hear about girls all the time. When it was his choice I read Alladdin, and those sorts. He soon got out of that ''not liking girls" thing then I had to start reading him the facts of life! I make up my own stories, for now . i will however move to the traditional fairy tales once she is older can understand a bit better... |
