Transiting through Singapore. Able to enter city?

I'm an Australian citizen on an Australian passport. I'm not sure if I need a visa to enter Singapore. I'll probably be in Singapore airport for about four hours between flights from Europe. Can I leave the airport and go into the city?Obviously if I do need a visa then I couldn't enter while in transit but if I don't need one, can I leave the airport for a few hours? Thanks!

If you are there during the day, there is a tour bus that will drive you around the city. I think it is still free. IT is just for transiting passengers.

Visa's are not required for Singapore, at least you don't need one in advance. I pass through there all the time and never had a problem.

Hi you could leave the airport while on transit but you will have to pay airport tax upon re entering. There are free tours for transit passengers.

You do not need a visa to enter Singapore.

You can take one whole day to tour around the major spots in Singapore, there are buses in Terminals for transit visitors. Just hop and shop.

Singapore is a city-state, you can get to the airport in less than an hour, approx 30-40 minutes from downtown city. You can do quick shopping. Ask the Information Centres and they will be more than willing to answer your questions.

The taxis are metered and they are reliably fast. But be sure you don't get around when it is rush hours, the traffic is a bit slow, but moving.

Enjoy your stay!

To qualify for the free tour of the city you need to have at least a five hour transit you can take a free local tour to visit sights in Singapore http://www.changiairport.com.sg/changi/e... withfour you may want to check with them when you are at the airport.

Holding an australian passport you do not need a visa to travel to the city. But if you find that its too rush a trip you may want to just stay in the airport.

The airport has lots for transit passagers to do like free movie theater, a swimming pool and of couse with singapore lots of shopping and food. Free internet is avaliable either with wireless access thru your own notebook or at one of the free terminals avaliable around the airport. There is even a sleeping area (free) with massage chairs if you want (see http://www.sleepinginairports.net/search...

Anyhow ... do enjoy your brief stay in singapore ... maybe on the return leg do a stayover for a couple of night. Am sure you will enjoy Singapore.

Cheers
