Where is Seychelles and what is it known for? |
Where is Seychelles and what is it known for? Hi, I'm a seychelloise, and yeah like all other countries we have our good and our bad sides or some would call challenges. We are a very happy nation and welcome all nationalities to our shores. We are very multicultural. The temperature is usually between 28 to 31 degrees celcius all year round. Monsoon season brings more rain and winds than usual. Our diet is fish (obviously for we are surrounded by it) and we love our rice and salads, but our salads are not like the usual lettuce and tomato. Its more grated pawpaw with onions and vinegar mixed in a frying pan. Our main economy is tourism and fisheries. Our local language is Kreole, but most of us can also speak a second and third language such as french and english. We have 117 islands, but only 3 are allowed to be populated with people. They are Mahe', praslin and la digue. Mahe is our main island and it has our international airport. We also have domestic airports, on mahe and praslin, helicopters can reach all other island and so do our local ferries/schoners. You can buy all fruit and vegetables depending on the time of year they may be more expensive. As with meats, chicken is reasonably cheap, like fish, but read meat such as beef can be somewhat expensive. Election time is a hectic time, but thats the same as other countries. Well, if I have missed anything please feel free to contact me. We are located close to mauritis, in the Indian Ocean, we are very close to the equator thats why we are a hot nation, mauritis is 2 hours below us by plane. We consider them our closest country neighbour. We are known for our tortoise Esmeralda who is said to be around 150 years old, and recently found out although named esmaralda it is a male tortoise, we have had the most flags for a country and we also have the biggest coconuts in the world called the "coco de mer" its a double nut. Hope that helps you out a little It's an island in the Indian ocean, known as a tropical tourist spot.. apparently much of it hasn't been harmed by humans so it's quite beautiful and natural. I think it's supposed to be a good alternative from the Tahitis, Bora Bora and Bahamas.. courtesy of wikipedia.org |
