Need to plan sexy weekend in Tacoma Area for husband returning from Afghanistan.?

My Soldier is coming back home soon and after being away for a long time ( a long, LONG time, LOL) we would like to be able to spend a nice romantic weekend together. I think he deserves it after all. Because we have two small children (one that is in school) it would need to be a weekend and relitively close locastion. I don't know much aout those hotel/resorts. And I am no nautre girl, and he is coming home for more than 2 years in the desert, so no ooutdoorsy things will work for us.
Please help me figure out a nice hotel, spa, resort type idea for a man who REALLY deserves it.
Also if you know of any vaction type companies or hotels that offer military rebates.
I am open to all SERIOUS ideas!! Thank you!

First of all, I'm so glad that your husband is coming home! Mine was away for more than 2 years as well, I know the feeling! We were stationed in Fort Lewis for a while, and there is plenty to do. It seems as if you don't have childcare? You mention the small children, so I'm guessing that they will be going with you if child care cannot be found, after all, they haven't seen him for 2 years as well, and they will have certainly missed their daddy. After you've worn out the mattresses... (heehee) you could always take a day trip to the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium (kid friendly, military entrance fee slightly discounted, and close to post) they have a free day once a month too... Or... Have you heard of Stanley & Seaforts? It's a little restaurant on a hill looking out over all of Tacoma. If you go at night, you can see the whole city lit up (and they have booster seats and kiddy menus too!) It's very romantic, (even with the kids, which is how we had to go.) Here's the link for that: http://www.r-u-i.com/sta/menu.php. You could always drive up to Seattle, take the kids to the CHildren's museum, and then take the ferry back and then go out to eat on the waterfront. There are so many possibilities, I hope you find something that you all can enjoy together.

The main thing is that you will be together as a family again, and speaking from experience, I'm sure that there will be plenty of days where he's just going to want some time to rest. He will love being with you, but you don't want to cram too many activities into his leave, you don't want him to feel rushed around, after all, he just got back, you are supposed to be relaxing! Even a bottle of wine, some scented candles, and a romantic movie after the kids are asleep can be sexy and romantic! I hope you have a great time when he finally gets back home. ;)

A lot of hotels are still offering lovers packages from Valentines time. I know the Hilton has a nice one with wine, flowers, and breakfast included.

Well, you're centrally located, so here's ideas in every direction:

Go across the Narrows and keep going all the way out the Peninsula to Forks. It's rainy this time of year, but there's also next to nobody around. A little town down the road called Kalalock has cabins on the shore that you can rent. Take a few movies to watch together and enjoy the time alone at the beach. If you'd rather, you could only go as far as Bremerton so you'd have access to some of the city amenities.

Going East the Sun Mountain Lodge in Twisp is an incredible adventure. They've got these two night learn to ski packages that are affordable, and it's some of the most beautiful country in Central Washington. The roads can be a bastard up there, but if you call ahead and check they'll steer you right.

Going South, consider Long Beach. Ilwaco has a couple of nice hotels, and there's so much to do on the coast even here during the winter time. You can do the whole lighthouse and museum thing, and the dining out on fresh seafood is absolutely to die for. I'll freely admit my bias--the ocean in the winter just seems so special to me.

Another place to the south I'd endorse is, oddly enough, Oakville, just past Rochester on your way to Elma and home of the Lucky Eagle Casino. The hotel they built there a couple years ago is superb, with pool and hot tub, and there's a breezeway that leads right over to the casino if that's your druthers. They've also done an incredible job of getting entertainment acts to come there, so if the timing was right you could catch a good show or boxing match. Plus, it's only 1.5 hours from Tacoma.

Finally, North. Seattle has everything, but Fort Lewis to Seattle really doesn't seem like much of a getaway. Vancouver, BC on the other hand--that's a good time.

Men like yours deserve all the great things they can possibly get. Don't be shy about asking for a military discount--I'd even drop the "He's just coming back card" and see what you can get. The best thing for him, though, will be in knowing that his girl spent the time to do this for him.

Good luck!

there is NOTHING sexy about tacoma but the waterfront is nice you should take him somewhere else instead i nkow you dont want to travel away but you guys should really stay in seattle
