Do you think, and is it right?

Do you think that is right and that it will keep the crime rate low in KSA when beheadings are carried out? I am talking about murders, rapists, drug smuggelers etc. Real criminals. Do you think that there is any punishment to hard for these commited crimes?
In most Europen counties the max punishment for murder is live sentence, what means he/she be free again after serving 25 years. Means, the state/country is paying for prison, food etc for 25 years. Is this right?

In the West a rapist hardly never ever gets a live sentence. Means he is free after a couple years while the victim maybe still is suffering. Is this justice?

Please leave any religious related issues out of your answers. Thank you.

Is the KSA system in these cases not better?

Please let me know what you think.

Hi H!

I have had to think about this one actually for a full day before I could answer. Born and raised in Canada we do not believe in the death penalty here. And yes everything you say is true! Also in Canada Life means 25 years. Out for good behaviour (probation) sometimes after 3-5 years for rape. A rapist can get out faster than a drug smuggler can. And yes in many many situations the criminal of rape happens again.
Also In Canada many many have been accused of murder and then 20 years later find out that this person was innocent. They let them out and their life is now completely damaged.
But I can agree with you, on the death penalty if the accused has full rights to have his case heard. And DNA evidence being used. Yes this would bring the amount of crimes down I believe. As far as beheadings goes, just the thought of it horrifies me. And sadly I'm horrified at myself as to have to think about a more human way to have a death penalty. Many many are killed without the proper evidence, I'm not saying that KSA is corrupt at all, but many countries that have the death penalty in many cases the police and judges are corrupt. If there was a way to make sure this did not happen, then I could support this. I hope you understand what I mean. Peace H!

yes it will cause that will teach them not to comitte a crime that high like murder cause no one is scared of jail any more but death everyone is still scared of it

There are nations ruled by religion, so it would be a sin to have any discussion where religion is excluded. This is the wrong category to try to be separating your beliefs from that of this nation.

In some nations, the rape victim is executed. That way we know THAT person will never again let that crime happen to them.

Assuming there is no error in the law enforcement and judiciary in catching the real criminal, ending the life of that criminal means THAT person will not be doing THAT crime ever again.

However, how do we know we have caught the right person? In the west there have been a series of scandals with respect to DNA testing.

There was a recent case of a rape investigation, where DNA proved that it was done by a 2 year old child. Well it turned out that when the kid was older, DNA was taken in association with some other crime, then the DNA was stored improperly, so that it leaked into DNA from the rape crime scene, then when the crime scene DNA was tested, they found it matched the kid, and when the rape occurred, the kid would have been 2 years old.

When dealing with other forms of evidence, the risk of error is much higher.

In the west there is a concept known as recidivism, which means that after a person has been punished for various kinds of crimes, there is a risk they will be caught doing it again. For some crimes the odds are low, like 2%, for others, much higher.

this story is very long story, right and at the same time wrong. Law was issued to cover all but not individual so some suitable but some not. In the conclusion, things that have happened in the society was not right nor wrong. Let it go its way. What is the most difficult to study? Ourselves, the human being.

good luck

I think that they punishment is by the rules of Islam, and they deserve it. But don't forget that no one is beheaded until there is real evidence and witnesses.

I think every crime should be punished, and as far as the Saudi System I think it's fair.

i do support that kind of punishment, thats why we r livin in peace with a low rate of crimes because simply no body dare to miss with the laws. unlike other western countries where they have very high crim rates with out enough punishments.
however, things r now changin the gov in S.A is flirtin with the west by minimizin such punishment at the expense of the local ppl. its been along time since i've heard one was beheaded for rapin. now they dont do it as b4, and its all bcz of the human rights crap.
Good topic.

in the u.s. a rapist can be convicted by the testimony of a witness male or female or by forensic and/or dna evidence. it is my understanding that the standard is far different under sharia law.as for convicted and especially admitted murderers i agree that the u.s. is to soft. on the subject of drug abuse i think that we are way to hard .any type of prohibition when applied to victimless crime can only serve to support the black market in those very crimes.see al capone.
in the meanwhile it only serves to over crowd our prison system preventing us from being able to detain robbers rapists and child molesters.
i also take exception to the concept of tying a woman to a stake and dumping a truckload of gravel on her for alleged adultery. is this a myth or fact?

I think beheadings go a little far. I mean if you can get equally the same effect by electrocuting or lethal injections, or hanging even, then beheadings shouldn't be done. Also life sentencing should be implemented with no exceptions [until your valid life, no short terms, no bail, no good conduct exception etc.]

I just think everyone deserves atleast two chances. The first time crime committance could have been due to various reasons under individually harsh circumstances. So to generalize that every one did the wrong out of their evil intention is unfair.

I agree with you, but unfortunately, the law favors sinner rather than victim. Moreover, nowadays NGOs are performing very strange role in protecting sinners.

Not only the punishment prevent crimes. Education, medical care, offering jobs, increasing the awareness......etc. all these things help in reducing the crimes level.

Yes I do think it keeps the crime rate down because if you publicly chop off someones head then it will scare the entire country and they will know they will get killed if they try to harm another person in the country. That's one of the few things I like about Saudi Arabia. You don't have to worry about getting killed or your money stolen.

If you're talkin about rape. I know a guy who heard that his schoolmate is a rapist and he's in prison now for almost a year and a half and he wasn't beheaded.
