Why does the govrernment cut water from homes in jeddah, saudi arabia?

water is very important, i used to live there we only had water two weeks a month, and two or sometimes three weeks without water. is it just jeddah or all other parts of saudi arabia are also like that. why don't they fix it i hated jeddah because of that

I think the water crisis is due to the bad planning and organizing of the water networks. The problem now that the quantity of water that reach Jeddah is the same and don鈥檛 change, while the population significantly increasing also, the water does not reach full due to leaks in the network. The ministry now for the short run are trying to increase the public awareness toward the rationalize consumption of the water. it means that Jeddah will suffer from a shortage of water for period of 2 years until entering the new station (shuaiba) in 1430 .

If you live in one of the areas without a water line connection, its your haris (building's caretaker) who has to go and buy truckloads with water and fill up the building's tanks...about every 2 days. Ridiculous system, isn't it.

because the massive uncontrolled illegal immigrations to Jeddah especially from Hajj, all the plans made by Jeddah's municipality comes shorts of their targets. It is estimated that 2,000,000 illegal immigrants are living in Jeddah and mostly from poor African nations.

of course the above is one of the main reasons and the other is the corruptions.

I stay at an expatriates compound and we haven't got any problem with water so far. But I do hear about water crisis in Jedah recently. I also heard that the authority currently is working to increase capacity at desalination facilities.
Hope this problem can be solved quickly.
