I know San Jose is the electronics capitol of the states, that might be the reson, but a millon dollars used to?

mean somthing here, why not any more?

Well a million is all relative. Look back a generation.
30 years ago, you could buy a nice house for $30K and if you grossed $1K per month, you were making good money. Of course, back then gas prices were in cents and not dollars.
Now days $30K might just be enough for a down payment and the $1K might be what is taken out in taxes. A millionaire a few decades ago was rare. With the housing and dotcom boom and bust in the Bay Area, it became far more common for someone to have that worth. This does not mean they have a better life just stashed more assets. If a company made a million, it was doing well. Now if a company makes a million it may be going under. So people in general are not as impressed with a million dollars. Yet of course, I would still take it if offered. ;~)

Your question makes no sense... A million dollars used to what?

may be because, you cant buy a house for yourself with this money. But who cares... It means a million dollars to me and I can go crazy with this amount....;)

Well, if you're talking about houses, that depends on which part of San Jose. There's the slummy part and then there's West San Jose. That's the more expensive part because we have the Cupertino Union School District. And it's a billion times safer then the other parts of San Jose. :]]

You can look it up on Wikipedia......
