Is New York City similiar to San Francisco?

Is New York City similiar to San Francisco?

they are both big cities, and very liberal, lots of different kinds of people.
new york is flat, san fran is not.
san fran stays relatively cool in the summer, NY gets hot and muggy.
new york is more congested than san fran.

New York is ten times as big, a lot hotter in the summer, and a lot colder in the winter. San Francisco has lovely views and pleasant weather, but every hundred years or so a large earthquake destroys the city and they have to start over.

Perhaps if you asked a more detailed question, we could give you a better answer.

I think comedian (and political pundit) Bill Maher said it best:

"It is like New York without the attitude. It has a cosmopolitan vibe, only 800,000 people, and it鈥檚 close enough to L.A. that you can literally go there on the spur of the moment."

San Francisco is basically New York without Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, or Staten Island. It's thoroughly urban, quite small, and surrounded by water.

Of course, if you really like Manhattan, that wouldn't be a big problem. But many Neu Yawkers don't care for Manhattan because it has become a playground of the rich. And those folks might find San Francisco terribly gentrified as well (albeit considerably more laid-back and friendly).

NO.

San Francisco is less intimidating and overwhelming i.e. traffic, people in your face - and getting around is easier.Weather is better, easier to find good food, not that NY doesn't have it - but it's easier to find in SF

NY is a fantastic place to go if you know where you're going, and have a hefty allowance for taking taxis.
