Can anybody tell me if there is a five star (or four) hotel in San Fransisco which has 'smoking' bedrooms?

Have been offered First Class flights to San Fransisco and accommodation for a business visit but need to find a hotel where I can have a cigarette!!!!! Otherwise. will not travel

You can search and choose hotel information, rates and availability for free in over 200 countries world wide at my profile.

im pretty sure SF has a no smoking policy in all public buildings including hotels.

Wow - first class flights! Aren't you lucky! I hope you still decide to go on your trip. I don't think you'll find ANY hotel in California that will allow you to smoke. That's because it's usually a city by-law that you can't smoke in any building.

no chance

Hmmmm, not a FOUR star, I don't think so. Have you looked around much or called? You might be able to get a DECENT 3 star hotel that allows it though. Good luck!

don't be daft.you can smoke in your room illegally(everyone does)you are allowed to smoke on the balcony or in the restuarant garden.Stay in the hippie area (haight and ashby)there are very tolerent there. Can be a cold wind in summer and foggy but beautiful city with views(can l come)

No, it is illegal to smoke inside any public building. However, some hotels may have balconies, or you can step outside.

Legally, 65% of the rooms in a hotel must be smoke-free. California Labor Code 6404.5 (d) (1)

I've heard that the Renaissance Parc 55 might be able to accommodate smokers. Some travellers report having some luck with the Radisson and Hyatt chains. Even if you book online, you should always contact the hotel directly to confirm a smoking room. Expedia and similar sites often ignore "requests" completely.

Obviously, these aren't the top hotels in the city (which are almost always smoke-free). It depends on how you look at it, but I'd say generic business chains are at the "lower end" of four star. However, they're reasonably comfortable, consistent, and clean.

Smoking is banned from hotel restaurants, ballrooms and meeting rooms, and is supposed to be kept to 25% percent of lobby space. Also 35% of the rooms are supposed to be reserved for nonsmokers. Very few hotels are *entirely* nonsmoking. Smoking is also banned from bars, music venues, bowling alleys and pool halls. The larger hotels, especially those catering to foreigners will have smoknig rooms.
