What time does it get dark in southern california in the winter? What time does the sun come up?

In December, the sun rises around 6:45 am and sets around 4:45 pm. In January, the sun rises around 6:45 - 6:50 am and sets just after 5:00 pm. In February, the sun rises around 6:30 am and sets around 5:30 pm. In March, the sun rises around 7:00 am and sets around 7:00 pm. Not that you asked, but in mid-June, we have the longest day of the year, with the sun rising around 5:40 am and setting at almost 8:00 pm.

During the shortest time of the year the sun sets a little before 5PM and rises around 7AM.

During the Summer (Daylight Saving) the sun sets as laste as 9PM and rises as early as 5:45AM.

It get dark by 5.30pm

5:00 p.m. in the evening and it gets light enough to go surfing about 6:45 a.m.
